It's not long enough to reach a working outlet though. So my question is this: Can I piggy back my 30' 16 gauge outdoor cord onto the proper 14 gauge starter cord? I'm thinking no, but electricity and I have an understanding. I don't mess with it and it doesn't kill me. Quoting: amachiavellian Double the 16 gauge up...you will have 8 gauge. Enough amperage capacity for the task.. |

Your smaller extension cord will heat up and could burn through the casing and short out. If you are running that extension cord from inside your house, you could catch the carpet or anything else the wire is touching on fire. Get the right cord.
