Maybe they are getting some of the "police force federalization" money; vehicles that include high tech stuff. Is just one political entity controlling the purchasing? Could it be for kickbacks? Or maybe they got a super good deal on an end of the year volume purchase. January 31, 2013 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Billions of your tax dollars have been spent on excess stuff the U.S. military has to give away. Recipients of the weaponry, including Brookfield Zoo which obtained M-16 and M-14 combat rifles from the Pentagon, applaud the program. A Brookfield spokesperson would not say how many guns they got but said zoo police are thankful that they are better able to protect the public, the animals and save money. According to critics, the program would be unnecessary if defense officials better managed our tax money. Me Too |

The cars are getting "cooler and cooler" and are getting more and more unmarked. This allows them to have cool cars for their own off-duty use at taxpayer expense. They used to stick high powered engines in utilitarian cars but what fun is that. I once heard a cop say on the radio: "What other job let's you drive counter traffic at 110, awesome." |

Yeah, there are a few of the new charger cop cars here, MI/IN. I always wonder..how do they decide which pig gets the cool car and are the other pigs pissed off when they pull up next to it in their shitty ugly old car. And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it. I am an evil giraffe, and I shall eat more leaves from this tree than perhaps I should, so that other giraffes may die. |

I can't drive 3 miles without seeing at least 5 cops, and all they have to do with themselves is write traffic tickets. |

Quoting: mrmuffins69 i mean was there a buy 50 get 50 free special or something? Been happening all over here in the Midwest, from the small towns to the highway patrol, all of them are upgraded and you rarely see old police cars unless you go down town. |

Ford stopped making the iconic cop car last year. The Crown Vic is no more. You didn't notice the new ones before because the Crown Vic was a static model for 20 years. Now you notice the new ones because they are totally different. [link to www.govtech.com] Quoting: Resister The new ones are bad ass.
