Anybody else notice new police cars for town, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies?
im in westchester county which is minutes from new york city. usually towns n counties in my area would get a new police car every now n then due to accidents or just high mileage which leads to many mechanical problems. but in the past few months pretty much every town has received at least 1 new car. from dodge chargers to chevy tahoes and even some ford explorers. they are all american made (american brand not made in usa) and at least a 2012 model. most new cars are black n whites even though most of the older cars were white. in light of recent events my suspicion meter is off the charts.

i mean was there a buy 50 get 50 free special or something?

Maybe they are getting some of the "police force federalization" money; vehicles that include high tech stuff.

Is just one political entity controlling the purchasing? Could it be for kickbacks? Or maybe they got a super good deal on an end of the year volume purchase.

they have a money tree (us) and it never runs out! the ford crown vic is no longer being made so expect to see tons of shiney new cop cars all over.

i feel as though the police themselves are at least influencing what cars are purchased. and the cars just keep getting cooler and cooler.

cops shouldnt have COOL cars, they should have utilitarian cars.

the new ford taurus cop car is twin turbo 365HP AWD
chevy is COP ONLY caprice corvette motor RWD 450HP
dodge is hemi charger

we have police depts spending tax payer money on shit like hovercraft and ultralites lol

This was on our local news last night, it might explain what your seeing!

January 31, 2013 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Billions of your tax dollars have been spent on excess stuff the U.S. military has to give away.

Weapons of war are ending up in Chicago and the suburbs, far away from any battlefield.

Recipients of the weaponry, including Brookfield Zoo which obtained M-16 and M-14 combat rifles from the Pentagon, applaud the program.

A Brookfield spokesperson would not say how many guns they got but said zoo police are thankful that they are better able to protect the public, the animals and save money.

According to critics, the program would be unnecessary if defense officials better managed our tax money.

The cars are getting "cooler and cooler" and are getting more and more unmarked. This allows them to have cool cars for their own off-duty use at taxpayer expense. They used to stick high powered engines in utilitarian cars but what fun is that. I once heard a cop say on the radio: "What other job let's you drive counter traffic at 110, awesome."

Yeah, there are a few of the new charger cop cars here, MI/IN.

I always wonder..how do they decide which pig gets the cool car and are the other pigs pissed off when they pull up next to it in their shitty ugly old car.
And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.

Have to make car manufacturers look like they're doing business. Wouldn't want the economy to look like it was failing until they're ready. Check out how overloaded the dealerships are.

My little town in New Jersey just got a whole new fleet of the fucking things.

I can't drive 3 miles without seeing at least 5 cops, and all they have to do with themselves is write traffic tickets.

Been happening all over here in the Midwest, from the small towns to the highway patrol, all of them are upgraded and you rarely see old police cars unless you go down town.

Ford stopped making the iconic cop car last year. The Crown Vic is no more. You didn't notice the new ones before because the Crown Vic was a static model for 20 years. Now you notice the new ones because they are totally different. [link to www.govtech.com]

The new ones are bad ass. [link to www.caranddriver.com]

"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787

What a coincidence.... the auto mfr's are the only business group reporting profits... yet I cannot for the life of me figure out who has money to buy a new car.... wait, the fed gov't does.... they just give it out to eh states to be used for cars and it looks like we're in a "recovery".

I saw a new black and white in a Houston burb yesterday, quiet neighborhood. The thing looked like a retro back to the 60's, out of place.
