Re: Have any of you looked at your W-2 yet this year?
In box 12 you'll find a new listing for how much your health insurance costs - both you and your employer.

They are only "keeping track" of this now.

This isn't taxable income...YET

You can bet your ass it will be soon, though. Why else would they put this on your W-2?

Welcome to the shithole you've voted for, America!

Man, they are just ASKING for a revolt, are they not?

So true. Should be pinned.
Insurance payments will be considered "income,"
or taxable.
The guy a thread other day had a great way of putting it saying we will be "ground down," it is everywhere.

So if you go in the hospital for a bad accident, rack up a $500,000 bill and that person will have to report that as income?!?!

OMFG! That would ruin peoples financial lives.

No no lol…. what the “law” is starting in 2014. If you get your health coverage from your employer and they pay 80% and you pay 20% per years for your coverage then you will be taxed on the 80%

Well according to GAO and the IRS, the average family of five is going to pay 20K annually. So, what the fuck ever. We're screwed blued and tattooed.

And my parents think I've lost my goddamned mind because I am in the process of selling our cattle ranch (I have a buyer) and moving to a small acreage where I am building a Cob House and setting up a solar, wind system.

I don't want to be anywhere near a major city in the next three years. Chaos, warfare, disorder and destruction when the 'Obama gots me a fone' crowd doesn't get their fuckin' freebies!

This is socialism, being forced to pay other peep's benefits or pay a steep fine. The insurance companies will love ObamaCare. One serious bitch I have with the system is that you're forced to use an outmoded system for health. Alt. health medicine is far better and cheaper too as well a helluva lot safer. We have a naturopath and she never prescribes drugs. Drugs for chronic disease is terrible. I am 73 and take no prescription or OTC drugs, not even baby aspirin. I do take a couple dozen supplements though as well as eat healthfully (no GM food, junk food, aspartame and its ilk). We buy organic if we can. But now, I will have to pay a tax for ObamaCare which I intend never to use. The Supremes should have not allowed this monstrosity. I saw an article that said that the IRS has said that ObamaCare will cost the average family of four/five $20K a year in 2016. A good hunk of that, about 30%, will go to the insurance companies. Big Pharma will continue to rake it in too while coming up with new ideas on how to increase sales of their toxic wares. The USA ranks very low on the scale of success with diseases even though we spend outlandish sums of money. You must realize that this "health system" is just one big transfer of your assets into the pockets of criminals. Many people will lose it all just as they check out. Never believe for an instant that they give a hoot about your wellbeing. It is all an operatic farce.

So my contribution as well as my employer's to my insurance "benefits" will be considered taxable income? So if this amount totals between $12,000 to $20,000 for a family of 3 this will be considered taxable income in 2013? How are we supposed to survive and not become indebted to the IRS?

We are lucky. We, ourselves, pay about $3,300 a year.

The number on that line (what is paid my us AND the employers)? $13,800.

Can't wait til they slap a 15-20% tax on that, huh?

Even the stupid fucks that voted for this buffoon will be pissed off soon enough.

You'll learn what's in that 13,000 page bill after you vote on it - not to worry.

Affordable Care Act Tax Provisions

The Affordable Care Act was enacted on March 23, 2010. It contains some tax provisions that are in effect and more that will be implemented during the next several years. The following is a list of provisions for which the IRS has issued proposed and/or final guidance; additional information will be added to this page as it becomes available.

The Affordable Care Act requires employers to report the cost of coverage under an employer-sponsored group health plan on an employee’s Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement, in Box 12, using Code DD. Many employers are eligible for transition relief for tax-year 2012 and beyond, until the IRS issues final guidance for this reporting requirement.

The amount reported does not affect tax liability, as the value of the employer excludible contribution to health coverage continues to be excludible from an employee's income, and it is not taxable.
