Ok, so I've had problems accessing my Microsoft Word for awhile now. Everytime I try I get a message with the red circle and X. Runtime Error Program C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\wkgdcach.exe. "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an usual way". It's been like this for a year or so. My husband just found out about it and has been trying to fix and is starting to get on my nerves. He is very well intentioned but will not let it rest. He's fairly good with computers but this is out of his league. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that doesn't do anything. He went on his user ID side and was able to access Word there but I can not on my user side. ???? Any thoughts?

It's either this, or the OS had a nasty virus previously and that is what is causing this.

OP, if you ever get this problem straightened out, you should make a system image to DVD for future restoring your Operating System should the need arise. I make a system image copy every three months and back up all my data files and directories to a USB 32Gb plug-in drive. My system image is usually 12 DVD disks.

I finally got it fixed! It took two hours on the phone with the Microsoft guy in India to work through a number of scenarios. He finally put me into safe mode and we found that the program worked perfectly while little else was running. It was then a matter of rebooting to the regular mode and eliminating one service at a time until we found the one that was causing the problem. Finally! Thanks to all who tried to help.
