Horse DNA in uk meat/genetically modified animals?
Hi this is my first thread..
I've arrived here with a question after a niggly thought has entered my mind which I can't get out! I could use some input from you guys to see if you think this theory goes anywhere...

Ok we have had mass media coverage of UK meat which has been imported resulting in food with up to 100 percent horse DNA

A number of thoughts occurred to me

1. Where are the mass produced horse farms?
2. Why is there no explanation!
3. Why was there not a noticed difference in taste / consistency of meat products which supposably contained horse meat..

I thought what if it didnt come from an horse just contained horse DNA? Is that even possible? I found an article on BBC news from 2001
[link to news.bbc.co.uk]

The article from 2001 shows scientists saying that they had the ability to produce gm meat which could be available for human consumption in 10 years, it details concerns about importing such meat!

What if the UK have been eating GM meat arising from a frankenfarm abroad somewhere? Can anyone help me? It says they look to make meat bigger- why wouldn't they base it on horse size - I'm no scientist and this may be absolute nonsense but do you think they are modifying meat in the same way as crops? Could this explain the findings?

Peace

Interesting article. Personally I'd not thought of that corellation. I tended to lean more towards the 'conspiracy' by farming exporters to chuck any old meat into the processor for minimum wastage and maximum profit. The fact that only dna as been found and not as you say different textured, tasting or smelling meat speaks volumes. They did it to the planted food, why not the animal part of the good chain. Current legislaton and safety standards and general public perception would make the actual legal usage of such a 'super' animal a non starter. But as that ever stopped them before! Where profits involved, especially on items on such low margins, ethics very rarely comes into it. Wouldn't surprise me on the slightest. If its not happening now then look forward to it at a supermarket near you in the very near future.

Excellent 1st post OP.....kudos

If you look online about the company in the horse meat scandle you will notice that in 2011 they where at a loss of 385 million pounds, not small change,jp morgan and goldman sachs are involved in the take over of this company through private equity groups which makes me want to ask more questions on whats going on.

This goes deeper, could this have been a deliberate act to damage and weaken the company for takeover or was it done to make a quick buck, either way its bad,are those sort of underhand tactics even legal, whats folks ideas on this.

we cant trust what we eat anymore, people should be angry because another thread on glp was talking about a human tooth with a filling being found in a tesco's finest sausage roll,my thoughts though were where is the rest of the poor sod's body, you realy cant make this shit up,i feel like im living in the fucking twilight zone a la solent green, people eating people seem logical as every one seems too be of their fucking rocker these days.

Horsemeat is the least. They are abducting children for sacrifice and they own meat packing companies. Where do you think the bodies go?

Excellent post OP I did my first one earlier on the same topic, I tend to disagree with your statement widespread media coverage,I tend to think we have been drip fed info that's slowly becoming more dangerous, therefore creating "fear of the masses" problem is its not working,I have been met with more humour than outrage when speaking to people about it

Hi I keep checking the news and have to agree with you it's being drop fed - albeit regularly - so far the main reaction is jokes... I definitely think there will be more to uncover. the corporate relationships involved should shed some light, if its horse meat, or genetically modified crap someone knew what was going and it was done for some agenda... Odd subject for me as I'm a vegetarian and have been for years but it screams to me of something deeper going on, just can't shake that gut reaction at all....

Will check out your thread too for your thoughts thanks

I can see where you are coming from but see no point in pony DNA in cow

Its nothing more than corprate greed by deliberately putting pony in. The mix or just getting a deal too gooid to be true n minced beef

Re: Horse DNA in uk meat/genetically modified animals?
It's great, that I came across this question. I was doing some research on genetically modified fruits and vegetables for some time now and recently I found out, that they are in a process to producing the first genetically modified salmon. I was shocked; because if I wasn't looking for this information, I never had found out that something like this could be in my dinner plate any day.
