BG43214 User ID: 18147015 United States 02/13/2013 10:44 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I gave up on buying fresh tomatos YEARS AGO. no what kind I tried; they all tasted like cardboard!! I tried the ones still on the little vines? AWFUL the big 'beefsteak' ones? AWFUL no matter WHAT I tried, they all stunk. Then I saw in Heloise's column where a lady said she had the same problems and tried CANNED DICED TOMATOS!! and she loved them. So I got a can and have to say I'm NEVER buying fresh ones again......the canned diced toms are not mushy, as I thought they'd be, but very firm Needless to say they are great in salads!!! and other stuff too. SOOOOOOO....tomato lovers, don't give up, but DO try them!!! |

The ones in the supermarket this time of year are probably shipped internationally and are so full of preservatives and junk that they have no flavor. Grow your own or buy from a decent local farmer. |

Oh and pics, or it didn't happen. lol Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1833608 Lol. Salt is a tomato's best friend. And with tomatoes; the smaller, the sweeter, the better Have you ever tried sugar? I heard that some countries frown about salt on a tomato because it is a fruit. |
