And guess where we are? When our solar system was last at its current location in its orbit around the Milky Way, was the time when dinosaurs were walking the Earth. Quoting: WTF_is_a_Moniker Makes me wonder, did the Earth pass something during this time of orbit that killed all the dinosaurs? An asteroid belt, or something more sinister? Would that explain the increase in fireballs in the last year? Something to think about. |

A very good theory... as there were no astronomers about at the time to confirm it is hard to prove, but I'm wondering if they can date Asteroid impacts and if there a map/timeline of impacted Asteroids/meteorites. It would be an interesting project to map them over time. |

The Dinos died of 65 million years ago at the end of the cretaceous period. So, it'll take us another 160 million year to reach that point in our orbit around the Milky Way. |
