Official name of the "mother church" of the Jesuits, located in Rome, Italy: Chiesa del Santissimo Nome di Gesu all'Argentina
The Church of the Gesu (Italian: Chiesa del Gesu) is the mother church of the Society of Jesus, a Roman Catholic religious order also known as the Jesuits. Officially named Chiesa del Santissimo Nome di Gesù all'Argentina[1][2] (English: Church of the Most Holy Name of Jesus at the "Argentina"),[3] its facade is "the first truly baroque façade", introducing the baroque style into architecture.[4] The church served as model for innumerable Jesuit churches all over the world, especially in the Americas. The Church of the Gesù is located in the Piazza del Gesù in Rome.

First conceived in 1551 by Saint Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits Society of Jesus, and active during the Protestant Reformation and the subsequent Catholic Reformation, the Gesù was also the home of the Superior General of the Society of Jesus until the suppression of the order in 1773.[5]

History

Although Michelangelo, at the request of the Spanish cardinal Bartolomeo de la Cueva, offered, out of devotion, to design the church for free, the endeavor was funded by Cardinal Alessandro Farnese, grandson of Pope Paul III, the pope who had authorized the founding of the Society of Jesus. Ultimately, the main architects involved in the construction were Giacomo Barozzi da Vignola, architect of the Farnese family, and Giacomo della Porta. The church was built on the same spot as the previous church Santa Maria della Strada, where Saint Ignatius of Loyola had once prayed before an image of the Holy Virgin. This image, now adorned with gems, can be seen in the church in the chapel of Ignatius on the right side of the altar.

Construction of the church began on 26 June 1568 to Vignola's design. Vignola was assisted by the Jesuit Giovanni Tristano, who took over from Vignola in 1571. When he died in 1575 he was succeeded by the Jesuit architect Giovanni de Rosis.. Giacoma della Porta was involved in the construction of the cross-vault, dome, and the apse.

Suggestion: Check on your own before looking retarded, asking us.

Argentina is derived from the Latin argentum ("silver").

Hey moron, I'm prefectly aware of the origin of the word "Argentina".

I'm perfectly aware of the fact that the city of Buenos Aires is located in the "Rio de la Plata".

I'm perfectly aware of the fact that "silver" in Latin is "argentum"

But if you didn't notice, the name of the Church doesn't has the word "argentum", but the word "Argentina".

And there is NO REASON to explain why this word is in the name of this church.

Nothing related to "silver" in this Church

No reason for the word "Argentina" to be part of the official name of this church.

If you are aware of those facts then why are you concerned with word "Argentina" when the rest is in Italian. To use the Italian meaning of "Argentina" would be "Argentine," someone from Argentina.

So the entire meaning is there. It's not too complicated, why are you freaking out? Let's just add it to the list: Palestine, Nazareth, Argentina. Some would say India.

You realize you STILL didn't answer the question of "WHY ARGENTINA", right?

You may be desperately trying to justify that "it's not related to the country of Argentina", but you FAILED to give any plausible explanation for WHY the word "Argentina" is part of the name of this particular church...

Why not Argentina? Why Palestine? Why not India? Why not Nazareth?
It's where the Jesuits seem to believe Jesus either resides or did reside.
The Pope is a Jesuit, yes. This is dangerous, yes. The Pope is from Argentina, yes.

It was common to say 'this person of that place' at one time.

It's not that freaky. There's plenty of creepy Bible stuff going on lately. Obummer is due to enter Jerusalem just when Jesus did, on the passover schedule. His political party's emblem is a donkey.

There's lots going on. Understanding why Argentina probably isn't going to help us, at this point.

Do you have any speculation as to why? If not, then why is this a big deal? Make a suggestion to follow up on. Provide an idea to research. Otherwise, it's just a name.

Interesting observation, AC.

But I have a question for the OP. What do you think is the significance of "Argentina" being part of the name in relation to what is occurring in the world? As well as the pope being from Argentina?

I have no idea.

There is absolutely no rational reason for the word "Argentina" be part of the name of this first church ever built by the Jesuits, in a time when the country of Argentina didn't exist yet....

And the first Jesuit Pope ever comes from Argentina...

WHAT THE HELL???

If the country of Argentina didn't exist yet, then it's probably not related to the country, but rather the same root wording of it, thus we return to "argentum," Latin for silver and the word that inspired the naming of the country Argentina, due to expectant hills full of silver. We can't forget that Latin was the language of the Vatican, not Italian. Though it still makes no sense why there would be a mix of Latin and Italian, so it again suggests from the country. My knowledge of languages beyond English isn't exactly extensive so there could be connections there, it's just that I don't see them.

The 'Illuminati' are big on representative power, though. They like to use symbolism, having the Pope placed in Argentina until this time came doesn't sound beyond them.
You should see all the insane trouble they went through for the 9/11 attacks. They did everything they could to parallel it with God striking down Jerusalem for straying. They even had officials reciting exact bible verses related to it, and how Jerusalem was arrogant and built up in spite of their judgement.

Find the link, Opie... er.. Moran (for good measure...) and I will gladly explore the possibilities. There are 'coincidences' visible everywhere, it's when we make a 'connection' that it matters. Sometimes, they're just hard to see.

Because it's near the Torre Argentina - a square named after Strasbourg, whose Latin name is Argentium. It's called that after a 16th c. papal official who came from Strasbourg. It took me tops ten minutes of Internet research to find this out.

First church ever built by the Jesuits, considered the "mother church" of the order, is called Church of the Most Holy Name of Jesus at the Argentina

but it's surely "a coincidence"...

yeah, right...
