(PIGEON FORGE) WATE- Dozens of firefighters are battling a massive fire in Pigeon Forge on Black Bear Cub Way.

Sevier County officials said the blaze started around 4 p.m. as a brush fire, which then ignited the cabins nearby. At least half a dozen cabins have burned completely. Crews continue to work to extinguish the flames spreading to other cabins.

Latest update (Courtesy WVLT): Sevier County fire crews are battling a massive fire in Pigeon Forge that has affected more than two dozen cabins.

According to the Sevier County Sheriff's Department, 35 cabins have been destroyed by the fire at Black Bear Ridge Resort.

The fire started at one cabin then spread, according to authorities.

All cabins in the area have been evacuated.

There was a thread that said static eletricity would become obvious that , it would effect technology , that it would effect gps systems, that it could cause stress to the electronic grid. That we would be able to feel it happen. It is happening and you can smell it.

they are blowing it out of proportion.

It is a small area not close to any businesses only the cabins built side beside on a mountain where it was not safe to build one.
I am surprised this does not happen more.

They failed to report the fire IN DOLLYWOOD that was caused by embers from their train. The area is pretty dry and winds are heavy, most the grass has not greened up yet so it still burns easier.

No one except the cabin owners should worry.

Good news is they finally voted in Liquor by the drink so there will be some new better restaurants inside the city limits.

But the preachers are saying the fire is gods punishment for allowing it

As of midnight, the fire was still not contained...its about 3 miles west of the main parkway tourist area of Pigeon Forge out Wears Valley road (Hwy 321) about 3 miles.

I live about 6 miles from it(in Wears Valley) and can still see the glow over the mountain from here right now. Windy night isn't helping.

Bad situation, but not as bad as suggested by some of the other postings here ( i.e., the entire area is on fire, etc.)...

We stayed at the Red Roof Inn back in June, I took the boys up to the 4 wheeling area, I believe I drove along Lost Branch road.

Any precautionary measures being taken along the main strip of Pigeon Forge?
