True, very true, and it's true that George gave the producers of the show an outline of how it's all going to play out in case he dies before he finishes the series. Which, given his age, rotundity, and slowness of writing, is not unlikely.

The show is great, but the books are much better, btw -- if you haven't read them I recommend it. And here's something for your enjoyment along those lines:

Ehem, I dont normally speak like this, but I am very excited atm, and really dig the series. D/L'd ep 6, just about to watch it..

The book series on which Game of Thrones (actually the title of the first book) is based is called "A Song of Ice and Fire."

We know who the fire is...it's obviously the Targeryans. But which Targeryan? Are there any others besides Dani?

And as for the Ice...well, it could be a Stark of Winterfell (Jon Snow or Arya are my bets), or it could be the Others. The author has said that in his next books he intends to show us what's beyond the icy lands north of the Wall. Where do the Others come from???

Finally....who is Jon Snow's mother? Could he be half Targeryan? It was reported that Ned Stark fathered his bastard while off at war during Robert's Rebellion. But could there be other forces at work here?

Only time will tell!

I haven't read past book three yet, but isn't there a god of fire, and a god of darkness(ice) which opposes him, and these two gods make up the highest level of the pantheon?

I've been waiting for them to come out on BluRay to watch, but you just made me want to get HBO.
