Good catch OP but things have settled down now. It isn't called smokey for nothing ya know!

Just shy of my 10th Birthday I walked outside of my Family's Home, in Federal Way, Washington to find my best friend & his entire Family, plus a few Friends, all up on their roof, the very same roof that he & I would get into trouble for climbing up on. I yelled at them, to find out what they were doing up there & to see if I could join them. When I got on the deck, probably before that even, I could tell that they were all VERY excited about something. When I got on the roof my Friend's Father made sure that I got on safely & I followed their intent gaze, over our Community Park & had NO idea what I was seeing(my Parents almost NEVER watched the News back then). I saw a dark grey cloud, unlike anything I'd ever seen prior &, even at that distance & at 10 years old, I could tell that it was MASSIVE. It was then that someone told me what I was looking at. Truly awe inspiring! My Father's only Brother lived 23 miles from the base of the Mountain & I had spent a good deal of time there, not to mention that our Families had been up to Spirit Lake for picnics & water skiing on numerous occasions. My Uncle & his Family lost every one of their Farm Animals, with the sole exception being the Family Dog, that was inside with them. Amazing amount of devastation, remnants of which are still visible today.

The top of the volcano just like instantly turned whitish from the heat of that. If anyone was up there, I think they'd have been vaporized or at least cooked pretty instantly. I feel sorry for any animals/bigfeet that might be up there.
