i feel like they may be doing it to get all the gold and then come monday the entire us dollar collapses and the market crashes and is unable to be fixed or recovered from again.. thus resulting in a new (one) world currency and america with all their newly acquired gold ends up profiting from it freeing itself from its debt even??? wtf??? this is deep and i just thought about these things all of a sudden where in reality i dont even think about things like this..

The US purposely de-valued their dollar to make their exports look cheap to the outside world as they are so debt ridden and need to trade. The Australian Labor party tried to take credit for the "Strong Aussie Dollar" when in reality it was the Americans themselves fudging it all along and not the Labor Parties good work/policy.

It is strange the way it has gone up suddenly when they are still having major problems. It really makes no sense for the US dollar to be so high.

Simple: If Americans don't buy Chinese products, the Chinese don't need Australian raw materials. So, nobody needs to settle debts with Aussie Dollars except 20 million people in the middle of fucking nowhere. And demand for the Aussie dollar drops, and it's exchange rate reflects that.

Great point. De-valuing our dollar makes Australia's raw material exports cheaper to China. Hmmmm

Also, reducing differential in interest rates means that many are getting out of the Aussie carry trade.

It also keeps foreign investors buying Australian properties so your housing schemes don't crash. :)
