About ten years ago, I was asked to give a talk to a high school senior class on the subject of human origin and extra terrestrials. I brought with me a large painting I had created from a profound vision I experienced after contact with aliens.
A boy in the class asked this question "What is love?"
The answer poured out of me. I listened to what I was saying rather than thinking of an answer. Love is listening so completely as to give the gift of feeling heard....where receiving IS giving.

It's better to of loved and lost then to of never loved at all.

sometimes there is a component of addiction to a relationship. It might be be a possibility...

You're not alone, OP. I loved once and I doubt I'll ever be able to again. I can't see how the emotion I generated in order to do it can ever be replicated. I have to live with that.

I've been fortunate in life, in that I've always had beautiful women by my side, but only once have I ever truly been moved by a relationship I had with a woman. She wasn't anywhere near the most attractive I've been with, physically, but she was the most intelligent, the most passionate, the most talented. Truly unforgettable.
