Some people hate bicycles because a bicycle is win win win win win for everyone. They take up little room, they need little maintenance, they make virtually no noise, they are inexpensive, they use zero fuel,they help people get out and get in shape.

Why would you hate someone who is actually beneficial for society in every way ? That doesnt make any sense. Have they bothered you some how ? And if so in what way ? Do you always hate from a distance people who never did anything to you simply because they believe different than you ?

I think you are reading this wrong; these selfish individuals deliberately took over both lanes of a two lane one way street as passive/aggressive gesture of opposition to cars. They blocked the roads for hours and I guess this dude just lost his patience.

Sometimes cities grant permits to close down certain streets when they want to try a slower pace of life for a night or two. How do you know what is not what this was ?

Personally i hate motorcycles and loud cars, trucks and suvs. What gives them the right to damage other peoples ears ? What gives them the right to foul my air that i breathe with carcinogens ? Have you seen the pedestrian death rates lately ? They are going through the roof. So i guess now they think it is open season to kill people who are walking.

I hear what you are saying and agree more or less with your position, but bikes are always as sweetly serene as you may think; you should try Amsterdam during rush hour; the bikes are almost as noisy and dangerous as cars. Actually, I think the bikes are more dangerous enmasse in an urban environment. At least the riding was fairly pedestrian in the critical mass demo in the video I posted. In Amsterdam it is anything but.

We are not assholes, no we don't take up all the lanes in both directions, we take up ONE lane which is our legal right when their is no bike path. The purpose is to tell our community that we need bike lanes for our safety and the safety of our fellow riders.

Sometimes some critical mass events get kind of obnoxious, but in general most of them are 20-200 riders, riding in one lane.

In many cities, towns, and municipalities it is actually illegal to ride your bicycle on the sidewalk -- which are reserved for those who are walking. Obviously in some places it won't be enforced very seriously, especially if the sidewalk is clear, but bicycles are road going vehicles.

They actually let you get a license? I think that is part of the written test. Perhaps you shoul use your phone to call someone and complain...just not while driving...nothings that important.

I already said in my post that in many places they don't enforce it very strictly. But in heavily populated cities with highly trafficked sidewalks -- like much of Manhattan -- it's not exactly the best place to be riding your bicycle.

A good solution would be to do what Portland has done and create a much expanded network of bicycle lanes.
