Quoting: Nostril Domus The world’s largest home improvement retail chain announced its move shortly after a similar announcement from Trader Joe’s Co, a popular privately held grocery chain. Home Depot’s change would affect roughly 20,000 part-time workers who previously had chosen the limited liability medical plan the company offered, spokesman Stephen Holmes said. After December 31, companies can no longer offer those plans under the health law, also known as Obamacare. “We’re going to shift them over to the public exchanges, where there are more options,” Holmes said. Forgot to add....COBRA costs me over $6000 a year BEFORE out of pocket is met. My OOP is $5800. I wonder how much I'll pay for ACA? More than $11,800? Add the meds in, another 1500 OOP.... Chemo, $1600 PER freakin WEEK. I made around $42,000 with a masters. Ten years in my industry. That well above the median income range in Merica. Worked and paid into the system all my life. I'm 46. Never took sick days. I got diagnosed eighteen months ago. Exhausted FMLA, temporary disability, donated hours and all vacation / sick time. They let me go. Can't find employment now due, largely, to my medical condition and the mountain of bills. My slice of the expenses topped $30,000 last year alone. Every time I go in for a scan it adds $4200 dollars to the tab. Even with COBRA, I'm topping $20,000 annually in OOP. That almost half of my previous income. How, in the actual fuck, is The ACA gonna be a raw deal in my case? Am I a freeloader? Should I just fucking die and stop being a burden to society? Yea, we will see what kind of tune you whistle when your earth craps out. Maybe god will cure you with magic and the laying on of sweaty hands. |

What people don't realize is that Obamacare was a payoff for big business. Some of the biggest costs to employers comes from providing health insurance. Big Business has been pushing for this for decades and under Obama they finally got it. Now instead of business shouldering the cost of healthcare it is being pushed off onto the taxpayer. Congratulations Big Business you won and the taxpayer has lost.... So the next time some leftist bustard claims that republicans favor the rich remember Obamacare and toss into their stupid faces.... What fucking payoff? Where is it written that businesses are responsible for providing heath insurance for their employees in the first place? It was created as an incentive, not an entitlement. People keep demanding more benefits, higher minimum wages and then wonder why wages are stagnant for those in the middle. If there's any benefit at all from OCare its that businesses will be able to get back to focusing on what they do rather than acting as health care administrators. Employers used to provide health coverage as an incentive for employees to come to work for them. Some paid the whole cost, others paid a portion, but it was always there if you wanted it. As the employment dynamic has changed to favor the businesses, the companies stopped providing any kind of coverage. They were greedy, but didn't want to seem that way. You could tell by the looks on their faces when they tell you that they don't provide coverage. Enter Obamacare which has given the employers an out. They now provide you with and make you sign an information sheet on the public exchanges. This allows them to essentially steal the money that they were giving employees before and it is justified by the federal government. |
