This was made to calm the fears and explain in a dumbed down way what happened in fukushima, there were a lot of questions and nobody knew what was really going on. Even news broadcasters didnt know what they were reporting when they read off how many bq/liter was reported in our drinking water in the first week. There were lots of things like this. I wish someone would make a documentary about the way television was that first month... The first week even, it was scary, it was creepy.

This is what commercial breaks were like between death total reports, aftershock earthquake announcements and fukushima explosion and meltdown updates. I know you probably can't understand the commercials but they are all public service announcements about being kind to each other (for as polite as Japanese people are, they can be very cold), to be affectionate to your children (Japanese people rarely show physical or even verbal affection to their kids, I've seen kids ask their moms for a kiss after seeing me kiss my son at kindergarten drop off only for the mom to refuse and say its embarrassing), to say the proper greetings or "aisatsu" like hello, good bye, thank you, good night, good morning, welcome home, etc. and the very last one is a bunch of Japanese celebs proclaiming what a strong country Japan is, and to keep your Japanese power.
That was a really dark time, things were very bizarre then, even more bizarre than they usually are (you know how wacky Japan can be..)


But in a country where tranavestites host children's educational programming on public television, you better believe this is not just "a joke," it's taking an extremely serious situation and making fun, and explaining it in a very dumbed down way, to make people more comfortable in Japan, so they could all move on with their lives. Almost every Japanese person saw that video.

Because the reactors are in square buildings, the shape of each plant was shown as the head for three mile island and Chernobyl too..

There was no "Commercials" in that Days,
there was not even "normal Japanese TV"

There were commercials, I posted links to them. 2ch was on fire with speculation into the commercials and their sudden appearance, particularly the aisatsu one (the clock hands are pointing at 11 and 3 when they say ohayou and when it says ponponponpo~n). The first two days were 24 hour emergency broadcast, then it went to 24 hour news broadcast with breaks between only showing AC commercials. You're a dumbass.
