Well....how long are they supposed to receive them? Hasn't it been 99 weeks? If someone doesn't find a job in 99 weeks, they just are not looking.

I'm pretty sure the 99 week unemployment ended a while ago. It used to be 18-26 weeks depending on the state, but may be longer because of the horrible job situation.

Regardless, my sympathies for those who don't know how they are going to pay their bills.

i was surprised how hard it was to get unemployment after losing a job in retail sales i had for 4 years. I was let off for some bullshit no fault of my own, drama.

applied, the company tried to say i stole merchandise, becuase they were downsizing and the manager was a total prick..i never stole squat.

anyway i applied, and the company didn't want to doll out for the unemployment..so i didn't get any, state wouldn't pay for it

this was 10 years ago...i found a new job in about 3 months though

A job is a job, something to do until an engineer can get a position they want.

How long should someone be able to live off unemployment?

Although, I thought it was the 99 week thing...someone posted that that ran out before and that these people have only had it for like 16 weeks....I don't know how accurate that is..

I thankfully have a job. But to put the "job" market in perspective you cannot support your family on 7.85 per hour through a company that will only let you get 20 hours a week MAX. This is exactly what is going on in the US right now. Plus you are ordered to purchase OBAMA CARE, you cannot pay a mortgage with what is left not to mention electric, water, gas, food, etc. I feel for what people are going through this is going to get very UGLY SOON.
