From what I have been reading, most of the regular citizens as well as the leaders of LPR/DPR have stated on several occasions that they are first and foremost interested in getting rid of Kiev's control. Many would even like to remain part of Ukraine, but in a very de-centralized fashion. The major point of irritation is of course money.

Southeastern Ukraine contributes more than 50% of Ukraine's GDP Skizzy, if you were not aware of that already!

Number one requirement is that the enemy first backs off at least 10km. Then a bilateral ceasefire can be considered.

As we have already discussed multiple times:

- An army (including insurgents) is obliged to separate itself from the civilian population (e.g., by constructing military bases away from urban areas).

- If such an army truly considers it militarily necessary to occupy a city, that army is responsible for the careful evacuation of the civilian population.

- If the army refuses or neglects to do so, that army (occupying the populated city) is fully accountable for the deaths of any civilians that result. In other words, the army occupying the populated city is a bunch of mass murderers.
