Quoting: Do Right By 57834600 Get that into your skulls and you'll understand all sorts of Arbitrary Measures. :) what does that mean? the way animals where slaughtered in places like the UK was driven by the public... to imply a minority should change the principles the majority feel are right is ludicrous and is going to cause major issues. Market driven would mean labelling products properly so people can make an informed choice and if they choose not buy a certain product then that will drive change in the market it is not arbitrary, other-wise it is sneaky and deceitful, akin to labelling horse as beef or putting wood chips in strawberry jam.. |

Nope, it's neither sneaky nor deceitful, the Corporations are JUST COVERING THEIR OWN BACKs, why? To maximise PROFIT, because 'that's all that matters' these days. You have off-shore slaughterhouses providing Halal i.e. live throat-cut, meat to industry = larger Market for that meat. :) |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 57390700 United Kingdom 05/08/2014 04:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don't have a problem with eating Halal meat particularly. They should probably have to label it though. Quoting: Lime Flavoured Redux I agree with the labelling, if it is Halal I will not on principle buy it, I do not know anyone who would, simply because most of those I know disagree with that method of slaughter, and I dislike the feeling of being deceived as much in this as in those who, ahem, miss-labelled horse meat as beef. |

They all laughed about it and put it down to Daily Mail hatemongering. The country's just been totally brainwashed by the PC culture. It's a lost cause. Wait until there are more muslim MPs than non-muslims and they change all the laws to suit them. Idiots. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 57837378 Ireland 05/08/2014 04:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Wow. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 57837341 People are dumb as hell. If meat is kosher/halal, it just means that the animal is killed in a certain way for a quick death and proper drainage. And yes, kosher = halal. Its my understanding, Moslems can eat kosher meat. But muslims have a CHOICE to eat kosher meat. Non-muslims shouldn't have muslims ways imposed on them without their knowledge!!! |

strgzr User ID: 42118927 United States 05/08/2014 04:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to www.dailymail.co.uk] Quoting: Cavaignac Supermarkets and restaurant chains are selling halal meat to millions of customers without telling them. The switch to slaughtering animals in line with Islamic ritual saves money because the end product can be eaten by Muslims and non-Muslims alike. More than 70 per cent of all New Zealand lamb in supermarkets is from halal abattoirs – a fact not stated on labelling. Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Waitrose and Marks & Spencer all confirmed yesterday they sell the imported meat. It also emerged that all chicken served by Pizza Express is halal – something made clear only on the company's website. Chains including Domino's, GBK, Nando's, KFC, Ask and Slug & Lettuce use halal meat in some dishes, mainly chicken, and locations. When contacted by the Mail yesterday, many of the restaurants were reluctant to discuss the issue. Only Subway and KFC overtly label halal meat products on their menus. This is a bad thing? :) |

Actually what they do for "Halal" meat is that take a large knife and basically slit the animals throat all the way to the spine and let it bleed out while it is still conscious. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 57217624 United Kingdom 05/08/2014 04:37 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I really need an answer to this, cos i can't see it being possible to supply a KFC chain this way. Also i stopped buying KFC many year ago after complaining about bruised chickens, if you notice you will always find bruised meat in your KFC, because they're being kicked and abused in their transport, has no one seen this trade in practice, 4 lads in wellies in a huge dark factory/ barn and the floor seethes with chickens living on top of each other, they each have a crate, and the truck needs 1000 crates, they're grabbed 2 and three at a time and slammed in to the crate often being trapped/ stood on etc in the process, there is no time to pay regard if they want paying their pittance. The chickens are then shipped to the slaughter house where they are strung up by their feet LIVE, and sent through a machine with whirling blades that takes the head off. So how is HALAL any different to the above where economic forces are in charge of animal welfare?? Do the chickens march up a ramp into the trucks lulled by soft music and heavenly scent? to be met by a smiling man who utters the name of god before slicing their jugular softly?....next! REALLY? |

Similar research in Australia is yet to be undertaken. Grand Mufti Dr Mustafa Ceric has suggested at an international conference in 2010, that Islam can conquer the world through the Halal (certification) movement. [link to 1389blog.com] |

If you ask the butcher can tell you everything about the bit of meat you are buying, even which farm it came from. |
