Sterling says no to Clippers deal, suit is on
This guy is a disgusting old fart, but he, like every other American citizen, is entitled to his own OPINIONS.

And those opinions, expressed privately, have NOT impacted the team in any way. The players are well paid and have nothing to complain about.

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has pulled his support from a deal to sell the team to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and will pursue his $1 billion federal lawsuit against the NBA, his attorney said Monday.

"We have been instructed to prosecute the lawsuit," said attorney Maxwell Blecher. He said co-owner Donald Sterling would not be signing off on the deal to sell.

Donald Sterling issued a one-page statement dated Monday titled "The Team is not for Sale" and said that "from the onset, I did not want to sell the Los Angeles Clippers."

Money Talks and Sterlings LAWYERS are loving life right now.
I may disagree with the plan to sue, but it shows this man has an ounce of principal.

Yeah agree.

No matter what he said, he said it privately, and to my knowledge, his remarks have not impacted that team negatively in any way.

I couldn't care less about Sterling or the Clippers or the NBA - but I DO care about the fact that every person in this country has the right to their own opinions and to say whatever they want in their home. And even in a public setting, as long as their words are not threatening, they also have the right to express their opinions, no matter how much someone else may disagree.

This case, imo, is NOT about race - it's about the attempted theft of our rights to personal opinions.

It's a race issue ONLY because the media ran with it. And anchors like Don Lemon on CNN LOVE these stories because they can use to keep the pot stirred.

Racism stopped being a REAL issue in America a LONG time ago.

And oppression affects every race, not just blacks.

He should sue her. The recording was illegal because Cali is a two-party state, so his rights were violated.

And I don't understand why people are not making a big deal about his wife being a racist, but moreover, about the video of her going into those people's apartment, when she FALSELY claimed to be someone else, working for the health department. She should be charged with false impersonation of a government employee in an attempt to intimidate.

What did he say that was so "unforgiveable"?

Everyone has been flapping about how offensive it was and all that. What I heard was basically that he told the girl he didn't want her bringing black people around and didn't understand why she felt it necessary. Apparently he is not a fan of Magic Johnson and again, big deal - he can like or not like who he chooses.

An apartment tenant and managers claimed the wife of embattled Clippers owner Donald Sterling denigrated African Americans, Latinos and once posed as a health inspector, according to court records.

Rochelle Sterling denied she is a racist in a statement released to ESPN earlier this week and distanced herself from remarks captured on an audio recording said to be of her husband. The court documents offer a different perspective.

In a 2009 deposition, a tenant at one of the Sterling’s apartment buildings in Los Angeles County said that Rochelle Sterling called him a “black m—f—” during a discussion at the building.

He has every right to be racist. His money isn’t. He doesn’t seem to mind paying blacks exorbitant amounts of money to work for him. He just didn’t take to well to having his girlfriend hanging out with them. I wouldn’t either.

Exactly. He did nothing.

If Magic Johnson owned a team and told his girlfriend not to bring white people on tickets he was making available, his fellow blacks would not do anything to him. Nor would other team owners. Obviously, Sterling did noting of significance.

The NBA and especially Adam Silver should be ashamed of themselves. Adam Silver should be fired.

Agree. And if Johnson did that, not only would blacks not do anything about it - neither would whites.

Blacks get a fricking free pass for whatever they want to do and say in this country . . . but whites are held to a far different standard and it's ridiculous!

There was a black guy on MSM talking the other day and he was persecuting Sterling . . . but he said that he says n***er all the time at his house and around his friends, and he was laughing about it, almost sounded PROUD of the fact. A lot of blacks do that, and it makes them absolute hypocrites.

But this kind of thing will continue until intelligent, civil whites stand up and protest the double-standard.

Good for him! It's about time he woke up. Years ago Charles Barclay during an interview, when I white reporter asked a question he stated, " This is why I hate white people! " Anyone make him quit basketball? Orthe rappers that call white women whores and white cops should die?Or the head of the Black Panthers.. They want to kill all white people and say they are devils. We don't have to agree with what people say but everyone can say or believe what they want.He was in his home, that HE pays for. I'd sue the girl!!!!! I'd fix her ass. What did she think she was going to get out of that? It isn't like he stopped paying them their salary . Good for him. Maybe the ACLU will help him? Yeah right!

I didn't think he said anything wrong there, but he underestimated the unity of the forces out to defeat him. If he had said "I am going to get a cheeseburger" he would have been crucified for that. It did not matter what he said. The gay and minority sports press was unified against him.

You idiots dont understand. Its not that Sterling is precluded from owning a team anymore, because he's a racist. Its about the viability of the Clippers as a sports franchise. What will ticket sales look like?, endorsement deals?, What players will want to play for the Clippers now? How many jerseys will they sell?

Sterling can go on owning the team in my opinion. But, he will have to deal with the free market consequences of his actions. I would think that would be something heavily supported on this site.
