It IS NOT a genetic mutation, but the result of an anomaly during the development of the embryo. Two headed reptiles are more common but they do not survive in the wild. I caught a two-headed red eared slider (turtle) this spring when I saw it basking on a clump of weeds. It died about a week later and i doubt it was over a month old. The damned thing couldn't make up it's minds which way to go. It was the third two headed newly hatched reptile I've found in my life, the other two were garter snakes in the same batch, so they can't be that rare. Two Headed snakes are known to be found from time to time quite regularly ,google it |
