Anonymous Coward User ID: 1840169 United States 06/23/2014 11:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So I've been a vegetarian for about 2.5 years but about a month and a half ago I decided to become vegan. And now I'm noticing some more manliness attributes on the rise.. strength coming back WITH more endurance. more energy. more lean(probably due to losing stubborn fat areas) Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4948678 I've read some stuff before on the topic and explanation being when on a vegan diet the body receives no outside hormones and thus produces more of it's own. Not sure the validity of that but it does make sense from design/evolutionary standpoint - since human biology appears more meat eating. But now I've stumbled upon this article with interesting info. May shed some light on why Vegans end up with more natural testosterone than both meat eaters and vegetarians. [link to nutritionfacts.org] This study shows almost identical levels of 'free' testosterone in dieting subjects but the Vegans had significantly more SHBG. Which other studies link to regulating healthy hormone levels.. which is a whole other topic. [link to www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] ANYWAY I'm about to turn 30 and after I do I'll probably get some blood work done to see where all my levels are at. Any other vegans out there ever been tested? Vegan for over two years here. I can attest to this. I noticed dramatic changes over the first 6 months. Just try to stay away from a lot of soy. |

Even the gay women... The men who go vegan find out very soon that they loose weight have more energy and are off their medications in a few months, I see this over and over as they are excited and tell us about it at the store, and I see them before and after. |

All vegan studies compare vegans to people eating trash like soda and McDonalds. They never compare vegans to people eating real food. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 59342275 Most people don't eat "real" foods because most people don't go to their local butcher to buy free range animal meats. Most people buy the cheap on sale meat at the local wal mart along with caged mass production egg and chicken meat. If you talk to most vegans that aren't these new age wannabe vegans there main focus is natural food intake, along with the compassion for all life but that is besides the point. |

Yes, that is my point. Almost anything is better than what the average person eats. But veganism is not good or anywhere near optimal just because it is better than chips and cookies. |

I was wondering how long it would take for this thread to degenerate to a "Vegan Superiority" type of argument. If you want to delude yourself into thinking that no animals were harmed in the growing, harvesting, transportation and sale of your food, then by all means, do so. A healthy raw food diet is what nature intended for all animals, not the processed crap most people eat. If humans didn't spend the the past 10,000 years weakening their immune systems (more so in the past 500 years) you would be able go out and eat 3 day old road kill and not get ill from it. |

I am saying that all known tribes of people ever have eaten meat, yet not all of them have eaten plant matter.
