Clearly the spin masters have a reason for leaving "Syria" out of the name of the adversary. Must have something to do with the American people having more willingness to allow our military to be used if it is centered on Iraq without having Syria in the picture.

Here is what I think. It is very clear that Obama is on the side of Islam and against Israel. If he uses ISIS then that is connected with Iraq and Syria. If he uses ISIL, the L stands for the Levant, which denotes a bigger area of the Middle East, which includes Israel. So I believe it is a subliminal message to muslims that he is OK with the desire for an Islamic State that encompasses that entire region, and he desires it also.

ISIL was the name he originally came up with when he helped create the organization but others in power preferred ISIS. If I recall correctly he lost by a count of 6 to 1.
