Why would an atheist waste time reading something he/she considers absolute BS?

many atheists are former believers that had minor troubles and blamed God for it..... so now they are pouting. that's where the old saying "give the baby his bottle" came from.

Revelations details nothing. The vagueness in its imagery and poetics leaves it open to a wide number of interpretations. It could apply to any number of periods of time. Past, present, and probably in the future.

It's actually the only part of the bible I've read, well okay, skimmed through. Would you mind posting the verses you're referencing In your OP? I'm under the belief that when something is written with such colorful language and loaded with metaphors, that it could be linked with any even through history.

Simple... Religious whack jobs (AKA TPTB) are attempting to make the book of revelations into reality to satisfy some sick demented desire for power.

Atheists have eyes to see but do not see and ears to hear but do not hear. They would just be wasting their time reading it cause they don't have the ability to understand what is written.

The Bible doesn't detail anything. You'll need to tell us exactly what you want us to read into it so we can get the same thing you do out of it. Exactly what religion has been doing to it's loyal flock of sheep for centuries.

it takes wild imagination and baseless interpretations to associate a verse in revelations to ME situation

It's an important piece of historical literature.

So are the Epic of Gilgamesh, The Torah, Egyptian religious texts, Sumarian Tablets, the Diamond Sutra, etc etc... Not to mention the countless Christian texts identified by the church as heretical because they didn't suit their purposes which are now lost to the ages.

There's no "Book of Revelations". The book is called Revelation.

Before reading the Bible, I was a christian.

After I read the whole bible, I became an atheist.

The problem is most atheists and gnostics (me) usually know the bible better than most Christians. Not just the bible but other works of the period. The research taken of the time period, the evidence of the time, other cultures of the time. The translations from greek or Abrahamic as well as might have read darwin .


I think the route of the problem is just, most atheists developed their opinions on actual learning, often more about the Christians faith than most Christians know. while Christians just rely on ignorance but they call it faith instead or they were just born into the religion and don't know any better.


There is many a atheist (or even a gnostic like me) that probably knows more about the bible from Judaism to modern Christianity than you minister does including being able to read it in greek and Abrahamic as well as other works from the times.

It's called the Revelation of Jesus Christ, but I'm sure they know that, lol

To be truthful, the book was never originally titled.
So there is no true name for the book. All titles for it are made up and thus equally correct.

i used to read the Bible before I was a baptized believer, and it made absolutely no sense.

Last I checked Israel was in the Middle East and Revelation talks about Israel a whole lot.
As far as the current mess in the Middle East; it will at least have a hand in setting things up for the prophecies in Revelation to be fulfilled.
Yet a direct correlation of a verse in Revelation to current events may or may not be possible at this time. Only Time will tell us that, for sure.

Just wondering why it has been right for parts of the world for many many times? How about you explain that to start with... Was and shit hitting the fan is nothing now.. Just times change and the bible thumping morons spewing change...

Christians have mouths to condemn, but never step up to take responsibility, Christians have eyes to only see the bad in others and judge even when its not their job, Christians have ears only to hear the words written bay man to control man, and they have a small brain to be controlled and not think for themselves..

So this essential guarantees almost everyone will burn in hell since they have to be saved just to "understand" the bible when the bible is the very thing that is supposed to tell them they need to be saved?

Sounds like the god of the bible really does want the majority to burn in hell forever and ever.
