Anonymous Coward User ID: 12630340 United States 10/01/2014 12:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If patients did there pre-surgery labs on campus they will now be delayed 21 additional days and have to retest. That's got to tell you something. Quoting: Bright Side I don't understand this. Why would an ebola patient affect anyone else's lab tests? Cross contamination risk? If you were inside the hospital within the last 7 days, you are not a candidate for elective surgery there or at any hospital for 21 days. CDC has confiscated ALL lab samples and taken them to Atlanta so tests will have to be done again. And what about non-elective surgeries? How are those being handled? |

That guy was pretty far gone and they let him go.... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32372061 Glad the truth is coming out. Are they contacting and quarantining everyone that for instance went to the lab, etc? I take it your surgeries were cancelled......be safe. Are you retarded, ebola spread through fluids, being in the same room as somebody with ebola is not gonna get you infected. |

Are you telling me if you were in a similar situation and there was a major concern of an Ebola outbreak (70% fatality rate due) to negligence, you would keep your mouth shut and let it happen? Not only is that morally wrong, but the title Anonymous coward is fitting. |

Wonder what's gonna happen to those scheduled to deliver? I would be CANCELLING the hospital and considering a home birth! T For Texas, T For Tennessee! The virtue of courage is a prerequisite for the practice of all other virtues, because otherwise one is virtuous only when virtue has no cost. I pull a couple shifts a week at various ER thru a temping agency (allowing me to keep my skills sharp) but my main gig is with a well known plastic surgeon in the area. Quoting: Bright Side Most of his work is very private (niche hospitals) and recovery takes place in a non traditional hospital setting etc. Occasionally though and especially for pro-bono cases we will use area hospitals - Presbyterian is one of those hospitals. According to the news, life is normal at Presbyterian sans the single isolation patient. Nothing could be further from the truth. All elective surgeries have ceased - not even routed to different hospitals. If patients did there pre-surgery labs on campus they will now be delayed 21 additional days and have to retest. That's got to tell you something. I'll post more info as I get it - supposedly legal has sent out a notice barring anyone discussing the matter but I am not their employee. Thank You So Much! Sherrigirl2012 User ID: 60967293 United States 10/01/2014 12:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The first patient was at the ER two days before getting sicker and was sent home with antibiotics that first visit. They may have done lab-work on him that day in the ER. If that is the case, his blood sample may have not only contaminated other samples, but possibly the lab technicians themselves. That is my guess....the lab techs are probably being monitored as well. Almost all major surgeries want post labs after the surgery to be sure everything is kosher before the person is discharged home. Some people also have biopsies, etc. If the lab techs are being monitored and their supplies possibly also being contaminated...this would be the reason for the 21 day hold. An yes nurses do gossip. Word gets around fast when it comes to healthcare about certain things that we would be-in-the-know about. LPN here, not an RN, but 21 years put into nursing none-the-less. I have always worked in geriatrics. Kudos to the OP Last Edited by Jewlz on 10/01/2014 12:15 PM |

This did jar something I read yesterday - one of the local news stations was reporting that on the first visit (where he was dismissed) "his labs looked good." I do NOT have a link to back this up, but I remember hearing it. I think it was on WFAA or Dallas News. |

Airborne, which it's not, means essentially it has wings and can fly through the air and attack another. Aerosol, which it IS, means it hooks a ride on micro-droplets from sneezes and coughs (and the lakes of projectile vomit and explosive diarrhea too, of course) |

My docs have told me that there are three other infected in different hospitals. It will be made public within next two days. Our sales have skyrocketed. The problem is that the only thing that kills Ebola is bleach. Buy bleach and prepare to be on lock down in your houses for the next two months to wait out the infection.
