Quoting: Stink Finger I knew what the taxes were when I bought the house but it doesn’t make it any easier. All I can think about is what I could have spent that money on verses being wasted on government spending. I hope you and your wife are making 150k or more. Otherwise you will be eating beans and tortillias |

Quoting: Stink Finger I knew what the taxes were when I bought the house but it doesn’t make it any easier. All I can think about is what I could have spent that money on verses being wasted on government spending. We just got or tax bill and it is over $7000. It was $1500 and has increased to this since year 2000. One-half of the assessment is for the school district. I reviewed the schools budget and the majority of the money goes to benefits. It was a real eye opener. Now the school is complaining they need more money for interpreters, more buildings to accommodate the influx of kids, 4 year old preschool and on and on. A never ending money pit.. I am all for education but they want money for everything anymore. Free laptops for every student to use at home included. Anyway. I give up. We have decided to sell the house. We live outside the city (St. Paul/Minneapolis) in the country and want to move out of state and get a small farm. Our kids are gone now and we don't need much. I wish there was no provision for escrow accounts. People just accept paying taxes as part of their house payment. I pay (like you) every 6 months by paying with a check. It really makes me think every time I write out a check for $3,500 every six months. Maybe, people would become more involved in what the taxes are being spend on. The taxes are much worse in the city. I believe the city school districts are now getting $18,000 for each student. |

All I can think about is what I could have spent that money on verses being wasted on government spending. I have two homes and several buildings and property taxes suck. But they are all paid for and the businesses make me money so it's better than just throwing money out the window...sure feels like it though. Then put an ad out on Craigslist to rent out your bedroom, or even the couch in your living room. Then you will get interesting and varied company... All of whom will help you with that tax bill. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 69470091 Belgium 06/10/2015 11:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is a certain infliction point where you don't own property but property owns you. Bankers and elite know what this infliction point is and they try to keep you right over that edge wher eyou think you own something but in fact it's quite the opposite. |
BRIEF User ID: 65696907 United States 06/10/2015 12:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In Indiana we can only be taxed up to 1% of assessed value of the property, so it would take over 100 years for you to buy your property twice, that's not a bad price for all the advantages land ownership offers...I personally am glad to have the infrastructure that surrounds my properties, otherwise it would suck. I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. I will, under protection of law, use lethal force if attacked. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 69470504 United Kingdom 06/10/2015 12:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You DO NOT "own the land" as long as it can be taken away from you for failure to pay "taxes" to some entity. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68846223 Does that entity own the property? How mant times do the banks re-sell the same properties? You dont own the land if it is registered to another organistaion such as the land registry. |

If a person sucks a bankers dick for money to buy land and doesn't pay it back the bank then takes the land as payment. Banks don't want to be in the real estate business, so they wait for someone else to again suck their dick for the cash to buy the land, and if the banker doesn't get to cum because the borrower stops sucking, then he has to look for yet another victim. Get it? I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. I will, under protection of law, use lethal force if attacked. |

They are creating an unreal environment for the children. The kids are getting every entertainment imaginable, but they aren't learning. My kids just graduated this year. I couldn't get my youngest through algebra 2. He barely passed the Mathmatical Thinking class which is the dumbed down math class. He was pulling a D in senior English for a while and just pissed away Spanish 3 ending with a D. These kids won't apply themselves, but they have literally thousands of dollars spent each day providing them with this unreal stupid environment. It just gets more and more lavish. I think they could do better with chalk boards and books and none of this extracurricular stuff. These kids aren't learning. I'm putting that boy into a vo-tech because there is no way that he would handle college. They don't read, OP. They play freaking video games non-stop. That's all they do. I know it sounds like I am a bad parent, but I have been on this kids butt. We aren't in a stable financial situation and that is playing on all of our nerves. I expected my son to get A's and B's. I worked hard for them. My dad would have kicked my butt if I hadn't. I didn't abuse my children verbally and emotionally, but they aren't coming along. Maybe you have to do some of that to get them to work harder. Last Edited by BunBun on 06/10/2015 01:00 PM Christard and Lover of God |

Maybe you have to do some of that to get them to work harder. My wife works at a large University and runs the teaching labs attended by mainly medical students. She has repeatedly said the students are not prepared to attend college anymore. She said the students can not follow instructions and have no attention span. She actually banned the usage of any cell phone or pad in the labs. I have some good stories on that. Anyway. I have over the years have attained three different college degrees in IT, Business, and Nursing. I also went to two technical trade schools. I tutored college students who could not pass the medical dosing tests. Fail the test a second time and you are kicked out of the program. You must have 100 percent correct answers. The college students could not set up basic algebraic formulas. I mean really easy stuff. Very scary. My wife also indicated the entry level classes have been really dumbed and second/third year students don't know how to do basic lab work. She has to teach the basics they should have learned earlier. They got a touchy feely director of education several years ago and now the program is worthless. It sounds like you are faced with the same problems many parents are facing. Frankly, I was a horrible student while in high-school (barely graduated) but did not excel until getting older. Once your kids leave home they will wake up big time as to how good there mother is and that she cared about them. Keep on the pressure as you only get one shot at raising them. Vo-tech schools are great for getting skills immediately. I just would be afraid of all of the competition for jobs, especially foreign workers. My nieces husband is in a long program for master plumber now. He will make good money working on industrial buildings, not residential crap. Good luck. |
