30 Years. One room. Solitary Confinement.
April 10 marked a milestone for Texas’ sprawling prison system. That was the day a prisoner incarcerated in a Department of Criminal Justice facility reached 30 consecutive years in administrative segregation, more commonly known as solitary confinement.

Three consecutive decades — 10,957 days — may seem an extraordinarily long time to spend locked in a small room for a minimum of 22 hours each day. (For reference, in 1985 Ronald Reagan was president and “Back to the Future” was the breakout movie.) But in Texas, it’s fast becoming less remarkable.

I would have to agree with you.

How can they expect people to be normal after spending years in a small room caged like a dog then released without any programming to help them in the outside world? If they ever get out.

There is no doubt that this is cruel and unusual punishment. Even 1 day in solitary confinement can be considered torture. It is completely unnecessary and serves no purpose in a correctional facility.

I don't think so. Not in ad-seg. Not too sure though.

I'll call a unit and ask..
