LEGIONNAIRES | Is it spreading? MI woman dies from legionnaires

MI woman dies from Legionnaires' disease, family says it happened suddenly
by: Jennifer Bisram - 7:07 AM, Aug 4, 2015
---------------

OTISVILLE, Mich. (WXYZ) - Doctors say most of the time Legionnaires' disease is not fatal and can be treated with antibiotics.

But, 58-year-old Debbie Kidd's family says they don't know how she got it, and, what went wrong.

Debbie's family told ABC12 in Flint last Friday, Debbie, who is from Otisville, complained of a headache. The next morning, they took her to the hospital where she was treated for a migraine. Days later, she got worse--and had a fever of 104. She was taken back to the hospital, additional tests were done, and that is when she was diagnosed with Legionnaires'.

Debbie died last night. Doctors saying even with the antibiotics her lungs never recovered.
...
Debbie is the second person in Otisville diagnosed with Legionnaires' in the past few weeks. Health officials say the two cases are not connected.

I'm sure they don't believe it is connected to the NYC outbreak either.

Oh of course not. Isolated incidences completely unrelated and all that. In a few days the national MSM will give this a pass just as it always does.

It is in the Bronx right now.

in 1976 it killed many in Philadelphia, traced to one hotel.
this current situation is worrisome because it is not a common illness, and it looks as though it is in 2 places at least right now.

if an epidemiologist tells us it is not uncommon, I would believe it. But to me, it is rare and frightening.

It's in most water supplies...it likes water between 86 and 130 deg f so summer is prime time for it to flourish

Re: LEGIONNAIRES | Is it spreading? MI woman dies from legionnaires
I could easily believe that the bacteria is more common than people realize because people don't become infected with it that often.

I could also believe that these current outbreaks are unconnected and unconcerning.

However, I'm concerned that this may be evidence of RIIDS and RIAMP at work.

Radiation-Induced Immune Deficiency Syndrome (RIIDS) could be increasing the chance that people's immune system isn't protecting them from the common infections it normally would.

Radiation-Induced Accelerated Mutation of Pathogens (RIAMP) could be causing mutations to the bacteria responsible for Legionnaires. These changes could be as simple as making it slightly easier to catch or as dramatic as making it communicable between people.

We'll just have to keep our eye on it to see which direction things might be going.

WTF?!? I'm in Michigan - last Thursday I had a horrible headache. Wiped me out all afternoon at work and then I slept for about 12 hours when I got home. Even skipped dinner. Then on Sunday I had another awful headache. Monday I was somewhat ok and now today I've had a dull headache. :-/

If you have a high fever, like over a hundred, you should really go to the emergency room.

I supported and put forward both of these theories a year ago.

I didn't have the cutesy names though.

I also suggested taking Bentonite clay on a daily basis to remove toxins from the body. Also helps to keep the body 'cleansed' and your colon unplugged which leads to obesity.

Taking Potassium Iodide daily to keep Cesium 134/137 radio active iodine OUT of your thyroid......

This Cesium Iodide ruins your immune system.

I have been coughing up thick phlegm since it started getting hot here in Florida. It takes me an hour to clear my lungs. It's starting to ease off with a 10 degree temperature change.

My brother has the same symptoms. He told me about Legionnaires Disease way before it was in the news. I think he might be on to something.

Hmmm, Otisville is about a half hour from me.

Someting strange here to report. 2 out of my 3 cats have some sort of respiratory infection. You can hear the gurgle when they breath.

I read that legionnaires started in Jersey after they sprayed for west nile.

Makes me wonder if they sprayed in MI. I also wonder how and when they spray. What do they spray with? Planes?
