I know a lot of the police shootings and outcry are bs. Some of them should have been shot, you don't fight a policeman. But that aside I feel a lot of them have been murder and we have created this monster law enforcement class that's militarized. I feel like the poor and blacks are feeling it first, but it happens everyday to people who aren't looking for trouble or are doing minor things. There's way too much looking the other way on this. "well if you dont want bad things to happen you shouldn't have been ____". If you've never had a cop harrass you or set their sites on you, you have no idea how powerless you are.

it feels like as the US economy permanently retracts we are going more toward this police state. Are we there yet? Do we have a soft police state? As long as its not openly unleashed on the non-poor we accept it?

also, the other side of this is the Ghetto culture we glorified for 20+ years, which led generations down a path to neo-slavery. Are we just letting the police do society's dirty work and ignoring ow they do it?

Re: How close is the U.S. to a police state.
I would love for this to become a thread filled with intelligent discourse. Logical thought, critical thought, rational, reasonable consideration of all aspects of this current soft-police state.

The scariest part? The government and militarized police will NEVER give up their power!!! Think about it: They have the technology to scan every email, text, phone call, voice mail, and web click. They can crush any resistance or co-op any resistance before it even gets up and running. (as we have witnessed first-hand with Occupy Wall Street, Tea Part, Black Lives Matter, etc)
The .gov and .mil have the NSA spying/snooping tech.
The .gov and .mil have the retired/repurposed war machines in the local town police departments (MRAPs, fully auto M16s, SWAT, etc.)
The .gov and .mil have consolidated power in the
Law Enforcement---->Courthouse------>Prison System
The .gov and .mil will NEVER willingly give up their power and control!
They have had decades to war-game and dream up every possible and potential scenario which could result in the government losing power and influence. They will NEVER allow that to happen!
Think about it this way: If you were in their position, and you had control of all the money in the world (they can just print more if they actually needed it), access to the brightest minds in every science, academic, industrial, engineering, medical, etc field, and control of the American war machine military.
Doesn't it make sense that they would anticipate any attempt to overthrow their power/influence/control?

They have it so that they will NEVER, EVER lose control, that they will NEVER lose their grip on power. It continues to tighten!

The media is brainwashing, and the police are there to enforce.

The US is already a police state. This is evidenced by the fact that you can be executed for not having the correct PAPERWORK.... fucking paperwork, you sheep. And, the cops who do the execution are rarely questioned, let alone disciplined or prosecuted.
