I spontaneously/accidentally stopped drinking and feel great
I accidentally "stopped drinking" Monday after a work incident that produced extremely high stress. I simply forgot that I drink, I think,

I didn't even think about having a drink until Friday when the stress was relieved (big meeting, not my fault at all) ... and then it occurred to me that it was the first time in many years I'd gone so long without drinking alcohol.

I'm not an alcoholic and I don't drink every single day, but I'd call myself a habitual drinker maybe ... Most nights I have one because it's there, maybe two, some nights more. 1-2 nights a week I don't drink - usually because I crash out early.

It's just part of my food and beverage intake, and a couple nights a week I'm buzzing.

And here I sit, with no plans to go out for booze.

I'm a little perplexed about why, but I think I'm done drinking at least for a while.

It's as if when I so stressed that I thought my head was going to explode and so angry I wanted to beat something with a bat ... my body knew better than to do what I'd normally do and have a drink ...

because I feel great.

I rarely drink. Used to be quite a social drinker.

My body responded to it differently as I entered into my 30's. I feel better without it at this point.

I knew I had to cut it back eventually.

I'm a 40 year old female, and I'm conscious of how it goes as we age ...

My insides feel a lot better and my mind is pretty sharp.

Maybe one day soon I'll wake up and forget I'm addicted to nicotine. That would be awesome :)

Went from being a weekly binge drinker to a teetotaler in one swoop about twenty years ago, not even making a point of it just been there and done that enough that it gives me nothing new or exciting. You are not alone.

Thank you all for your replies.

I don't think my boyfriend has noticed I haven't been drinking, either.

The stress of the week was so all-consuming, I barely spoke to him. He drinks less than me - he doesn't do the habitual thing, but those nights when I've got a good buzz he's definitely in on it.

I'm wondering how he might react if I just stopped ... at least for a while.

I'm going to see how long it takes before he notices, lol.

My belly feels great!

I never put the stomach issues up to the drinking, except on hangover days.

Blacked out after drinking tequila.
Woman I went to bed with grew a mustache overnight.
I quit drinking.
Married him and lived happily ever since.

All alcohol is, is microbial feces.

OF COURSE you'll feel better not consuming it.

You must be underestimating your intake. 1 or 2 drinks a day is not going to negatively affect you.
