Maybe 50-60 years ago mankind could have gone in a different direction, actually solved some of the problems then, before they mushroomed out of control. Didn't happen, and it's too late now.

But yes it probably will all be in vain, or worse. The worst case scenario is society does collapse, millions and millions die, but those in control have the framework in place to truly clamp down on every human after the collapse. That could be a real problem.

But what clamps down on those that are in control? Because even they are controlled by forces beyond the limits of our atmosphere.

That's the ultimate question and we're not allowed that answer, it seems.

The true ones in control don't really live on the same earth as we do, they travel in their own circles and have very distinct connections that are beyond the scope of most everybody else on the planet. They live among us but they lead very different lives as they can segregate themselves with their power and money.

No matter what has happened over the known history of mankind, there's always some group in control. We (the people, lol) allow it, we expect it, it almost feels like we innately want it. We need somebody to tell us what to do. What would we do without our leaders??? We've been programmed and bred over many centuries to obey authority.

My scenario was just a worst case of mankind being enslaved forever, basically imprisoned by the technology that we've collectively worked so hard to constantly improve. But somebody or something needs to constantly maintain a mechanism like that and it too would eventually collapse, so it probably won't ever happen in the long run. Doesn't mean they aren't trying. . .
