Because it is a stupid idea and will only benefit Canadians to sell their shit oil to China. Most of jobs it will create here will be cleaning up the oil that spills into our water supply and hauling poisoned victims to the hospital. Our refineries can not handle that oil--so it will not be used here and with oil prices as low as they are now--I doubt that even the Chinese want that crappy tar sands oil.
By the time it gets built--there will be other things discovered to make it obsolete.

It seems to me, after some research, that there is no need to complete the final phases of the project, as they are largely redundant. It would create a few temporary construction jobs, but hardly any permanent ones. Looks like the risks outweigh the benefits.

Not to mention the fact that it would compete with the oil that WE sell--driving profits down even further.

And when the companies go belly-up--WE get stuck with the mess--plus all the enemies we make by stealing the people's land along the way.
