Dying shopping malls...

I live in the Quebec area of Canada. In the last couple of years, the few malls I go to from time to time are becoming ghost towns. Multiple stores shutting doors, food courts shrinking, salespeople standing around waiting for a sale.

Dollar stores replacing old standbys. It is a clear indicator of where this economy is stuck...and it is getting worse.

I have stopped buying everything but essentials now. Judging by the sheer number of businesses and chains going down, clearly I am not the only one holding onto my money.

Anybody else seeing this in your area?
