It sounds fucked up, but it's the best way. Bring the water to a boil and cut heat to med-high and simmer off the water. Drop to med-low when the water is gone to finish and crisp up the slices. Because the non-stick coating is because of strong chemical bonds (one of the strongest) it doesn't degrade, so it just pollutes the biosphere forever. Mark my words, because I'll bet the farm that you'll find that things like autism are products of these chemical pollutants, maybe even especially PFOAs... ...and all anyone ever needed was a properly seasoned cast iron skillet... Won't cook if too thick - pound out evenly to 1/2 inch thick |
