Most of the stuff you need to eat is fresh and organic and doesn't keep longer than a few days. You have to keep replacing it over and over which gets expensive.

Things like avocados, i can't buy that in bulk because by the 5th day of the week they have gone bad so i have to keep going out day by day and buying this stuff. Same with other fresh fruit and vegetables. Buying bananas in bulk is no good because they have gone black by the end of the week and i am not going to eat 4 bananas a day.

A jar of almond butter is so small that it only lasts me maybe 4 days. If i buy 2 jars it costs like 15 dollars! Same thing with natural peanut butter or coconut oil.

Almond milk the same. The amount of almond milk required for a low carb bodybuilding diet means i would have to buy an entire crate of the stuff to last a couple of weeks which again is very expensive.

How do you buy enough of this stuff to make it last you without keep going out and replacing it all the time?

Well most people don't desire weight gain, so... if you want to gain weight fast, you gotta spend more than normal people do obviously.

How are you prohibited from going to the store more often?

Also, if you think organic food is expensive now, then you would've keeled over just a few years ago. I've noticed the costs going down, thankfully.

Re: How do you afford to constantly eat a 'clean' diet?
I shop the sales. When I see organic chicken/turkey/ground beef 50% off I always buy it and freeze it (it happens all the time since most people aren't looking for organic). Buy milks when they are on sale. A normal gallon of organic milk is 6 bucks. I wait til they're 2.99 or less and get a couple with far out exp. dates. Same with eggs, cheese, yogurts, etc. Regular grocery stores are more likely to have their organics on sale too since people are heading to Whole Foods instead. The grocery stores also have frozen and prepackaged organics (chips, soups, salsas, burritos, etc) so you don't have to make those things but st least you know the ingredients are sound.
Also you can download apps and clip coupons if that's your thing. We save tons for our fam of 4 just in doing those things. You have to plan a bit but it's worth it.

Re: How do you afford to constantly eat a 'clean' diet?
lots of good ideas here. a diet doesn't have to be diverse or interesting to be clean and complete.

my german great grandparents raised a huge family of strong healthy children, many of whom lived 100 years.

they did it on one small salary and through the depression.

they had a tiny city lot. they grew beans for canning, had a plum tree for drying prunes. they grew grapes for wine, on the fence. the family was encouraged to eat stewed prunes with meals for health.

they bought all their potatoes in huge bags in fall all at once and cellared. meat was also bought in bulk direct from a farmer. meat and potatoes was the dinner. with beans on sunday.

they bought flour in huge bags. the mother made her own bread. bread and butter was the after-school snack. the bread was mostly white with a little rye.

milk was delivered (by horse-drawn cart) as was fish on fridays.

a huge bag of oats was purchased. oat meal was the breakfast. and tea with lots of milk.

in fall, kraut was made.

the father made a little of his own beer and wine.

this diet, although it may seem boring, raised strong, smart children. the idea is: buy the best and buy in bulk

There's also wild foraging. Adams peanut butter is cheap at Costco.

Lots of potatoes beans. Eating a lot before bed is what sumo wrestling guys do to gain weight.
Baking bread is dirt cheap. Lots of recipes.
Buy in bulk with a few people & split the costs. & what the others said.
Cook giant pots of whatever & freeze. Freeze fruit and vegetables.

Buy produce around all these other ideas. So as not to waste it.
Learn the eating strategys of fat people & ul get big.

Re: How do you afford to constantly eat a 'clean' diet?
If you're trying to gain weight, you can use 4 bananas a day anyway.

You won't gain weight eating a ton of veggies. Most people do that as a way to drop weight when necessary.

Preserve some, freeze some, prepare & freeze, etc.

By on sale & freeze milk and bread, yoghurt, butter, coconut oil, meats.

Eat a lot of rice and beans, nuts, pastas and cheeses; add different spices, meats and veggies for many variations.

It isn't hard to eat 4 avocados in a week if you like avocados...

Maybe you're not utilizing the products well, and think you have to eat X amount of each food instead of focusing on being creative in the kitchen with healthy ingredients - ingredients which will vary from week to week according to what is available, on sale or abundant.

Maybe you should enlist a knowledgeable female friend or relative in showing you how to shop without a rigid list, prepare & preserve your foods. You'd probably enjoy eating much more if you weren't so rigid.

Get comfortable in your kitchen, man. Have fun with it.
Also, start growing something of your own, even if its just herbs, onions, or peppers.

Good luck, I hope you keep this thread going.
I like it.

What type of area do you live in, OP?

You could take up hunting and fishing. If hunting small game you can clean & prepare it yourself.
Big game, you could do that but it's easier to have it processed.

If there are hunters, farmers, dairies, or small plot gardeners around, barter or trade with them.

Farmers Markets generally have good prices (in my area anyway) and you can buy in bulk.

Invest in a freezer or dehydrator or both when you get the chance.
Craigslist, yo.

Have staple dishes you buy in bulk.

I always buy basmati rice and some beans in bulk for the best price per unit I can find. They last a year.

Mung beans store in a jar but you can sprout them as a vegetable. Cheap clean vegetables without daily shopping.

Buy the big bag of organic carrots and a case of freezer jars. Take a day to peel and chop carrots. Make coins and match sticks. If your knife is sharp its fun. Stack up your carrots in the freezer. You always have them to drop into soup or cook.

Buy a big bag of American apples in season. Shop and freeze a few for soup or cooked dishes.

Buy the big box of baby spinach and the big bag of kale for the freezer.

You can easily grow salad greens and radishes in spring and autumn, even in big pots. Wheatgrass too.

Pickled and fermented things in jars are clean. Read labels. Pickled beets are nice to have on hand.

Maybe you can freeze peeled bananas and run them through a blender. Or just buy one banana at a time.

-Buy guacamole. It keeps longer.
-Fruit and veggies should last a week....if you didn't eat them by then, you are buying too much.
-Peanut butter keeps for WEEKS unless you are storing it in the oven at 150F+. thwak
- A handful of almonds is all you need per day. Buy a bag.

It's not that complicated.

Kamala Harris is not a Natural Born Citizen. She's illegally running.

Used by the Founders...
Book I of The Law of Nations, Chapter XIX, § 212 (Joseph Chitty numbering) – “Citizens and natives”
reads: 'The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to
its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in
the country, of parents who are citizens. As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by
the children of the citizens
, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all
their rights.' 1758 Emerich de Vattel

2. Term Limits for Federal politicians and judges.
3. Mental and health standards for Supreme Court Justices and retirement age set.
4. A 'Star Chamber' of elected Natural Born Citizens (no attorney's) to ivestigate, try, and prosecute the politicians and government employee's as they see fit.

Fess up now...you're buying at least $100 a month in muscle powders and pills, right. It could be $300.

Maybe you're buying a 'car' you can't afford. If you're trying to add muscle, you're probably also eating twice as much food as the average person. Again maybe that's a car you can't afford.

Bulk Beans and Rice.

IFSBulk.com - Black Turtle Beans:
25lb for ~$20

Walmart - Great Value White Rice:
20lb for $10

Cheap, nutritious, tasty if generously salted. It's my only big meal most days of the week.

Bulk oats (for oatmeal) provide another main meal.

tbh, I have some other food support, but these are a good starting point for anyone IMO.

Could also start a sq ft garden and grow veggies to store for winter. I've heard of people growing massive amounts of potatoes in bins.

Also, you could buy a negative ion disk that puts out 2,000 to 7,000 negative ions in the frig. The food will last twice a long.

I got one off Etsy for $3.99 plus shipping that's rated 7,000 ions per cc. Got three of them. It says Quantum Biophysics on it.
