I would make the argument that one who sees the modern day as a great age is a "disgrace" as you put it.

Life was harder in some ways, but so much easier and happier than it is today.

You could play in the street, even in the dark, walk home "the long way round" taking about an hour with your friends.

Every generation thinks a previous era was a "hay day". There were lots of many good things about the '50s. There were also lots of bad things.

The MIC (Military Industrial Complex) took hold in this era and America's future of perpetual conflict grew from its infancy into a full fledged dangerous beast.

Now the MIC is dying, a beast consuming itself. Granted, it's also more dangerous than it has ever been. And I believe it will scorch the Earth with its dying breath.

Halloweens weren't crazy, men were men and women were women, duck tails, cruising, drive in's, rifle across your back window in your truck. In the school parking lot. You had to work to get to get to 1st or 2nd base, women weren't just straight out whores that fucked everybody. mama could stay home and get by on what father made. hot rods, pin striping, motorcycles, The government didn't watch every gosh darn thing you did.
