It will take a couple years to reclaim the land for planting again. If your entire yard/acreage/farm flooded, would you have quick access to functional machinery and viable seed, to immediately plant as soon as the floodwaters subside? |

Farms from the Dakotas to Missouri and beyond have been under water for a week or more, possibly impeding planting and damaging soil. The floods, which came just weeks before planting season starts in the Midwest, will likely reduce corn, wheat and soy production this year. "There's thousands of acres that won't be able to be planted," Ryan Sonderup, 36, of Fullerton, Nebraska, who has been farming for 18 years, said in a recent interview. You do realize that 1 million acres is about 0.12% of US farmland. As bad as the flooding is it doesn't pose economic hardship outside of general area in which the flooding happened. |

Periodical flooding happens and farming resumes as soon as the ground is dry enough to plow. They don't wait around to "reclaim". Big fat liar. |

Also, I don't eat the shit that corn and soy gets turned into Woe is you. who do you think is eating that corn? Questions to whomever might know: 1. How much grain mash would a "million" less bovines not consume in the years prior to going to the market? 2. How expensive will it be at the pump without the hectares of corn going into the ethanol we consume daily? 3. How long will it take for the drillers to ramp up output to fill-in-the-gap made by the loss of ethanol and will the price at the pump be affected by the shortage of food for the oil company workers? 4. If the "farmers" just decide to sit this season out will that impact upcoming elections if there isn't any Federal and State disaster fund payouts? Regards and thanks, DES |
