How are any of you so sure you descend from royalty? How would you know for sure what your bloodline is? What makes the royal bloodline any different than any other blood out there? More important, who cares? What difference does any of this make to your life right now?

Ramses II mummy was tested and found to have B negative blood and red hair. I have B negative blood and red hair. Since we both have relatively rare physical traits, does this mean I can go around claiming I'm descended from Egyptian royalty? I don't think so, but at least I can prove I have tangible similarities to someone from a royal bloodline. Can any of you?

If you are referring to Melusine.. I am.

good morning cousin!

********
Well good morning to you too cousin. I go down through the Plantagenants. Poor King John was a grandfather. Gotta love the Magna Carta.

((hugs))

Wispy

Am descended from John Lackland, too! Does that make me descended from the Dragon Queen, or is that another line? I know I'm descended from a lot of kings and queens of France, Spain, England, Scotland, Norway, etc.
 Quoting: DoBee

******

Morning Cousin DoBee.

The plantagenants were descendants of Melusine ( The dragon queen). John lackland ( king John) was brother to Richard the Lion-hearted ( King Richard).

In my tree I don't see how they could be from same lines.
My link to the dragon queen,is from the husband of Rachel Eaton, who came over on the Mayflower, she was married to Joseph Ramsdell(Ramsden)It is through him that I am linked to the Dragon queen.

Mine on the MayFlower were John Alden and Pricilla Mullens.

Re: Any decendant's of the Dragon Queen of Anjou
A lot of second sons came to the US and settled in a small community called Rugby, in East Tennessee , near the Big South Fork of the Cumberland. They had a thriving English -like community with boardwalks and homes and culture similar to their form homes. I guess they spread out from there.

Anyway... I had a grandmother (Geraldine Moncreiff Oates) who was interested in an association called the Dames of the Magna Carta. She had to prove she was descended from a signer of the document. Well she had king John as a signer. The were others on the barons' side that I am related to also. But... there ya go.

It is easier to trace if you have the records and the birth certificates. The more affluent had better records I suppose. Church records would be a place to start for births, deaths, marriages, etc.

Yeah, yeah, whatever. My aunt in heavily into Geneology and has extensively researched our family tree. She travelled all over the U.S. and Europe looking for old records. She found our family is descended from the Merovingians, and believes this ultimately means we are descended from King David. I believe her research is legit up to an ancestor of ours from about 1500s A.D., but that is as far back as I'm going to put any stock in. Past that, I think it's all assumption and weak evidence. A large percentage of Europeans can claim King Charlemagne is in their family tree. SO WHAT? B.F.D.

It was found that Ramses II had mtdna Haplogroup H. I've had my haplogroup DNA tested, and I'm also mtdna Haplogroup H. But then, so is 40 percent of all Europeans. Ramses did have over 100 children, and some historians believe some of his descendants, specifically Princess Scota - she who Scotland was named after - went to the British Isles. Who knows who is descended from her? There are probably scads of descendants.

Have you compared your DNA to the royalty you claim to descend from? Short of an exact DNA match, it doesn't really matter who you think you descend from.

everyone is a descendant from someone 2000 years ago. Doing math at 25 years per generation. that is 2 to the 80th power. Obviously not that many people living back then. No one is that special. Everyone has the blood of kings and perverts.

Good morning cousins Mi'Kmag and Nightwisp (I'm a late-riser!)

It always amazes me when people hop on a thread that doesn't interest them and then start posting about how they don't understand why this interests us ... surely there are other threads out there that they might have a better time on? As for me, genealogy has been a long-time passion and fascination.

Also, I disagree with the person who says we are all related. My family line is pretty tight. I've traced back all four branches and find no deviation from the English or German stock. There are no Italians, Slavics, Oriental, etc. influences.

My mother's line descends from English who came over in the early 1600's. Not sure if they have Mayflower connections, though.

Good morning sleepy head!Yup ,they probably think that we think we are better than them!LOL,I had my reasons to get into genealogy, before my father died he made me promise to bury him beside his parents, well he never told me who they were or what their names were even,so after many years I decided to try and find the answers and after a couple of years I finaly broke down the wall and found them and just kept going with it,Its one of my hobbies now,its facinating and I've learned alot about history along the way,Well thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

Re: Any decendant's of the Dragon Queen of Anjou

Among the most overtly Luciferian lore relating to the Grail bloodline is the strange saga of Melusine, a woman said to be half-human and half-serpent. Her father was reputedly Godfroi de Bouillon, former King of Jerusalem (or “Defender of the Holy Sepulcher”, as he preferred to be called), and prime mover behind the formation of both the Priory of Sion and the Knights Templar. It was due to de Bouillon - a descendant of Jesus Christ, King David, and the historical figure of Lohengrin - that the Templars adopted the Cross of Lorraine as their esoteric emblem. This symbol is known in Germany as the Cross of Lothringen, or Lohengrin (the origin of the name “Lorraine”), and was said to have been emblazoned upon Lohengrin’s shield.

...

As bizarre as such tales are, many European monarchs took great pride in citing Melusine in their family trees. In fact, according to Sabine Baring-Gould’s Myths of the Middle Ages, a number of royal families altered their genealogies in order to claim descent from the “illustrious” serpent lady. Her story became wildly popular in France, Germany and Spain, and for a time was seldom out of print.

In the early, happy days of Melusine’s marriage, she gave birth to a son, Geoffrey de Anjou. Geoffrey would eventually grow up to be the first Plantagenet King of England. Present at Geoffrey's birth was Bernard of Clairvaux, the famous Cistercian abbot, and yet another founding father of the Knights Templar. Upon first seeing the baby Geoffrey, Bernard made this strange pronouncement: “From the Devil he has come, and to the Devil he’ll return.” Though the Melusine saga may have been a beloved tale in parts of Europe, such was not the case everywhere. The tale seems to have been equally well-known in England, but not equally well-liked. In his book The Conquering Family, Thomas B. Costain writes:

“The counts of Anjou and their lovely but wicked wives gained such an unsavory reputation over the centuries that the people of England were appalled when they found that one of them (Geoffrey) was to become King of England.”

Re: Any decendant's of the Dragon Queen of Anjou
It was my understanding that Godfrey/Godfrei of Bouillon was childless, hence why his NIECE 'MELISENDE' was elevated to the throne of re-established Jerusalem during the Crusades, as the males were both dead at that point

Her mother was an ARMENIAN Princess. Who was married to Godfrey's younger brother. She had three daughter, one of which was 'MELISENDE'. Presumably as booty in the crusade conquest to establish a peaceful alliance with CHRISTIAN ARMENIANS, WHO CONTROL A QUARTER OF THE HOLY CITY TO THIS DAY...AHEM

MELISENDE WAS RAISED AS A CHRISTIAN.

The bad blood with the House of Anjou dates to squabbles in the time of RICHARD THE LIONHEART which have been immortalized in various formats of song, prose, plays etc
She bore the brunt of that, also from bitterness that arose between France and England, many centuries after her death.

MELISENDE WAS THE AUNT TO ELEANOR OF AQUITAINE, ELEANOR WAS RUMORED TO HAVE LIKELY BEEN ASSAULTED BY HER UNCLE "BLACK" RAYMOND, DUKE OF ANJOU DURING HER TEENAGE PILGRIMAGE TO THE HOLY LAND TO VISIT HER UNCLE FROM FRANCE AND HIS WIFE

The serpent legends arose in France. The mermaid motif is set into the crests and parapets of households/castles with her bloodline, also those who protected her bloodline during various internal exiles/political reversals. 'refuge'

HER SONS WERE ALL FOUNDERS OF VARIOUS ROYAL HOUSES IN EUROPE

ONE WAS THE VICEROY OF MALTA. ANOTHER OF THE ISLE OF CYPRUS.

HENCE THE ARMENIAN BLOOD OF HER ~MOTHER~ FLOWS IN HER DESCENDANTS

AHEM

SHE WAS A PATRON OF THE RELIGIOUS ARTS AND HER GOSPEL SHE COMMISSIONED, WAS PROTECTED AND SAVED UP IN THE ALPS FOR YEARS UNTIL IT WAS PURCHASED BY THE BRITISH ANTIQUITIES AND IS NOW ON DISPLAY AT THE BRITISH LIBRARY

INFO ON HER SACRED PSALTER, LINKED AT THE BRITISH LIBRARY RARE MANUSCRIPTS AND CONSIDERED A VERY PRECIOUS TREASURE

[link to www.bl.uk]

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

WHERE THIS HATCHETWHACKJOB OUTFIT IS COMING UP WITH MELEASANU IS BEYOND ME, UNLESS THEY ARE USING A LATIN TRANSLATION. SHE WAS NOT HUNGARIAN DERIVED IN THE MIDDLE EAST.

MELUSINE IS THE FRENCH PRONUNCIATION

MELISENDE IS HOW THE BRITISH REFER TO HER

Btw, her co reign with her son for a quarter century of Jerusalem ( before it was sacked and lost to the Turks in the time of her granddaughter) is characterized as a relative bit of sanity and sound rulership in a sea of crusade disorder.

"Black" RAYMOND FULK, DUKE OF ANJOU HOWEVER IS ANOTHER STORY ALTOGETHER...

de LUSIGNAN = LOHENGRIN = LORRAINE.

~THAT~ IS CORRECT.
