The real reason T Boone Pickens is spreading his wind farm lies | |
anonymous User ID: 420394 United States 03/03/2009 04:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Actually, his plans are pretty well documented: He has created water rights municipalities in northern texas that allow him unfettered access to HUGE amounts of water with plans to pump to central texas which is very nearly at their water table limit. He was instrumental in lobbying for the various laws needed to create the water monopolies he has. Pumping huge amounts of water hundreds of miles takes a lot of energy. His plan is to get wind power subsidized and use that to operate his water efforts more cost effectively, and if he happens to make more electricity that he can see, that would be a bonus. In addition, the water shortages in Texas would crimp his real estate investments and slow developement that many of his other enterprises rely on, so its all a win for him. Hes never been about making cheap electricity for anyone but himself. Hes just not stupid enough to admit it in TV commercials. This stuff is pretty clearly documented so Im surprised it would be news to anyone. |
