Sorry about that. I'm using American slang, and as a yingwen laoshir, I shouldn't do that. A gig is a musical performance - this one today at an expat bar in hongqiao.

I have no gongfu. I just know some info about gongfu, is a part of our culture. Almost every Chinese knows some info about it.

Easy. I've lived here for 5 years. I am familiar with the cadence, style of speech and ways of thinking of the Shanghai-nese. Also, he answered with a legitimate location in Shanghai.

Yeah, anybody can fake just about anything these days, but in most cases, there ain't any point to it, and he doesn't strike me as a GLP-wannabe making up hogwash to get attention.

Kind of refreshing to have another Shanghainese posting here. As far as I ever knew, I was the only one, although I am a laowai (foreigner in China).

Acctually I don't know much about GONGFU, and never practice it.
I just know some limited knowledge about WING CHUN. This is a gongfu created by a woman, and suitable for woman.
I'm a woman anyway. hehehe

Haven't lived there, but traveled through there a number of times. Canadian friend of mine moved up from Shenzhen to here, went back, said he liked it much better down there. Then again, his girlfriend's family is from that area, so that had something to do with it I imagine.

You'll be just a hydrofoil ride away from Hong Kong, but make sure you get a multi-entry visa, or you might be surprised to be not allowed back into China from Hong Kong if you visit there. Although Hong Kong is part of China, exiting to visit Hong Kong is considered a trip outside of China, and your visa will be marked accordingly.

Wow, so far away to meet online friends.. hehe.. must be romatic things to do.
Here some of people around me knew their bf / husband, or GF / wife through internet. We have a local chatting tools which was named QQ, it is similar as ICQ, more popular than MSN here.
Internet love.... some are sucucess, some not. I think it is a way to know people in this morden time....

I think it donesn't bother most of Chinese people, especially for urban people.
For normal people, it is expensive to bring even one Child up for a family. Much things need to spend money and energy.
baby siter, baby gargen fee, study extra things fee, school fee, large...
The resorce of a country is limited, it is limited for a family too. Every parents want their child grow at least as good other child.
Better get one Child grow up well but not get 2 child grow bad.


That's what people think.
And at present many couple decide to have no child. One of my friend is like this. Her husband and her are orphan, they don;t want to spend their rest of life only to a Child.
Maybe you don't understand why parents spend their full life to their child... but this is the parents style of most of Chinese. I think.

So, I can say in city, it is not a bother.
In country sides or village, people''s mind is more conservative. Usually they like to have more family members for labor. And people like to have a SON to go on their family name. So they want to have more Child.

So Government allows village family have 2 children.
From beginning till now, all Minority nations can have 2 children.
Only city people and Han Nation allow 1 child.



In another side, I think one child policty is not only good for China,but good for world.
