French fry used as weapon in Gray assault

A fry cook at Cole Farms Restaurant was charged with assault last week after burning a fellow employee with a scalding hot French fry. The two kitchen workers - both juveniles - got into an altercation that resulted in one boy taking a French fry out of the boiling oil it was being cooked in and throwing it at the neck of the other boy, resulting in a second degree burn. Following a complaint by the burn victim's mother and a subsequent investigation, charges were filed. According to Lt. Walter F. Grzyb of the Maine State Police, the case will be turned over to a juvenile officer for review.

''I have never seen an assault where the weapon in question was a French fry,'' said Grzyb.
