EW. Doesn't happen with my water. Are you using straight TAP water? Could be some contaminants. scratching flush

Probably minerals from the water ... or fluoride ... or whatever residue was left after they treated the waste-water and turned it back into "drinking water".

Harmless calcium chloride = chalk

It is not water soluble so it falls out of suspension.

If this is tap water I'd start thinking about filtering your water with a Berkey water filter.

Why would you trust drinking water from a $10 filter? If your pineal gland is so important I would think you would go with one of the best filters money could buy.

Re: When my ice melts in my water it leaves a white powder at the bottom
Definitely minerals. My water is like that also, i only see the white stuff come of the ice cubes. Out of curiosity i had it tested because i freaked out. It turned out to be calcium, magnesium etc etc. I think the minerals are in suspension when you use regular water. But once the water is frozen i think it comes out of solution somehow. I have several filters inline before my refrigerator and they can't even filter it out. Your best bet would be reverse osmosis if you don't like how it looks when guests look into a clear glass of your water.

Calcium mostly and other minerals. Should be harmless unless you are prone to kidney stones. If you are then you might want to consider a water filter.

sodium fluoride (NaF),n a white, odorless powder used in 2% aqueous solution and applied topically to teeth as a caries-preventing agent; used as 33% NaF in kaolin and glycerin as a desensitizing agent for hypersensitive dentin. In drinking water, one part per million of NaF is used as a caries-prophylactic substance.

The only way you could get the answer to that question is take the residue to a lab and have it analyzed.

Anything other than that is just speculation.

Sorry ... but true. :(
