*** OOPS! : KARZAI QUESTIONES THE RELIABILITY OF THE US
[link to www.washingtontimes.com]

Afghan President Hamid Karzai questioned the reliability of the United States as a partner Sunday, as he fought off criticism of his government's legitimacy following fraud-marred elections.

Mr. Karzai's main challenger, former Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah, warned in an interview with CNN that the U.S. strategy would not succeed without a credible partner in Kabul, blaming Mr. Karzai for deteriorating conditions.

But underscoring the political headache that Washington faces if Mr. Karzai wins a runoff against Mr. Abdullah next month, Mr. Karzai pointed the finger at the United States in a separate, pre-recorded CNN interview.

"Is the United States a reliable partner with Afghanistan? Is the West a reliable partner with Afghanistan?" Mr. Karzai asked. "Have we received the commitments that we were given? Have we been treated like a partner?"

Mr. Karzai said a partnership to him was "where the Afghan lives are respected, where Afghan property is respected, where the Afghan traditions are respected, where we know the direction we are moving to."

The comments appeared to allude to Mr. Karzai's longstanding criticism of civilian deaths in U.S. air strikes, and to President Obama's still-unresolved review of U.S. strategy and a request by Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, for up to 40,000 more troops.

Mr. Abdullah said more troops were needed to stabilize the country, but he said that after eight years of war, Afghanistan should have been in a position to ask for fewer troops, not more.

"We are not there. Why? Because of the failures of the current administration in Afghanistan," he told CNN. "Any success for the U.S. strategy in Afghanistan will depend on the credibility of your partner, on the legitimacy of your partner."

Mr. Abdullah suggested that only his own victory in November's head-to-head contest against Mr. Karzai would set his country on a path toward viability and better relations with international partners in Washington and around the world.

After 8 years of war, the foreign troop levels should be going down not up. How can there be any success of Afghanistan standing on its own feet, when every few years that pass, more and more troops needs to be sent there to keep things stable? Even after the surge in Iraq, bombs are still going off in the most secure of places, so is it going to be occupation without end; why should the Arabs step up, when it seems that the only recipe for success and stability involves sending more and more foreign troops?

More war leads to more war. Hard to believe isn't it. The only way for this to end is for the American people to stop being slaves by supporting the military. Right now our main export is death.

Then he should ask the President to take the troops out so we can all say thank you and wave that hell-hole a fond farewell.

Americans are ready for both the wars in Afghanistan and in Iraq to end.

They want us gone and we want to be gone so somewhere there is a deal to be made.

Afghan is basically tribal and not ready to be much else.

Don't you get it? It's a false paradigm! Now the US installed puppet is questioning the effectiveness of the troops? Hogwash!

He's an ex-Exxon employee that has extreme loyalties to the ones who can kill him aka AL CIAda.

This is a ploy to make it seem like there's a decision making process if we need to be there altogether.

There is no re-thinking of our presence their in fact the reason to be there is:

1) Most of our troops need to be overseas when they pull the plug on our republic.
2) It's a great excuse to kill and to reap backdoor profits via an unjust war. Look at the corporations benefiting as always and of course population reduction.
3) When WWIII kicks off they will be in a great position to be destroyed by Iran and Russia.
4) Access to the caspian oil. (this is just spoil)

WHERE'S THE MONEY?

Has any of you wondered what's happening with the oil currently in Iraq. Does anybody hear about the money made from that? The US is reaping the benefits of the oil in Iraq and nobody asks for any accountability, you all think your poor and your government just keeps on feeding you that same bull. Your going to wait until you've exhausted their resources then leave.

Why stay in Iraq? you've toppled the regime, you wanted Saddam out of the way so that you could play your POWER over the people there, GET OUT, you no longer have the need to keep on wrecking havoc in these people lives, they will stabilize on their own, they don't need dictatorship governement such as the US to tell them how or by whom their country should be led.

Your all a bunch of murderers by association.

You talk the big talk when it comes to the UN but your the first country (US) to tell the UN to go fuck themselves when you wanted war in Iraq. You disobeyed any recommendations they made. Obama is just one those puppets, I'm sorry I've ever had faith in his ability to bring peace to this world. May God grant him what he has sowed.

Afghanistan is another country where Obama now is trying to implement his own style of government/elections, so that he can have dictatorship over that country, plain to see, he's not pulling back as he promised, he's advancing and wanting the POWER of telling people what to do, do ya think he's going to be successful, nah. Obama's credibility is and was put under review, its now has being questionned in the Middle East, he talked the big words, it was just that empty meaningless words to try and pull the wool over the eyes of the people in the ME. Just like Iraq the Afghan's can manage their own politics without a dictator.

Already been reported that many of the foreign insurgents from Iraq have retreated to Afganistan. Seems apparent that we'd need more troops to defeat them again in Afganistan... does it not?

Don't forget the heroin. Some news articles say that the Taliban is getting funding from heroin sales. I wonder how the Taliban smuggle the heroin from Afghanistan to New York. Don't the NYPD notice the Taliban goatherders selling heroin on the streets?

That heroin is worth a lot of money. If the Taliban was getting all that money, wouldn't they have enough to buy heaps of missiles, tanks, maybe even nukes? So where is all that money going?

Exactly AC, it's really obvious, and becoming glaringly obvious.

...This has been a rough year for Canadian troops -- we've taken a lot of casualties in the line of duty.

Since entering this war we've lost the third most of any country and the largest per capita.

Obama, what happened?
