From that pic you can tell the McCain was dead in the water. There is no shear damage from a ship under power. It was a direct hit ! The McCain would have been under full power to get out of the way of a ship that was 4 times it's size. It was also full daylight as far as I know. No shear no power. Look at where the "V" shaped part of the haul hit the war ship. Not one inch of shear.

thats a missile or torpedo hole..no way in the world thats from an oil tanker, it would have bent and buckled like a tin can rather then pierce direct through a double skin hull like that..its clearly a missile hole

Also, it does not look like the "cargo ship" had any ballast. Sitting high in the water.
Not to mention the top looks rusted like its an old injury, and not just red lead primer exposed.
