I have lived a joyful life following the teachings of Jesus Christ and comforted that when this ride is over, I will be with him for eternity. Who knows - perhaps both of us will be surprised. You seem to be assumimg, for whatever reason, that I'm an atheist. I'm not. You also seem to assume I'm attacking Christians; again, not so, and I must apologise if I've given that impression. Perhaps it was my mention of the Bible. In that context I could, and perhaps should, have written "The Bible/Book of Mormon/Bhagavad-Gita/Communist Manifesto says it, I believe it, that settles it." No, my target is, and has always been, not the ordinary man or woman who professes a particular faith, but mindless fanaticism and fundamentalism, which seem to be commonest in Christian and Muslim circles at the present time, but which are also to be found other religions, in politics, economics, even in science. When a person accepts any kind of dogmatic, rigid Belief System (or BS) without question or reservation, then that person simply stops thinking in all the areas over which the BS claims authority - and in the case of fundamentalist religions, authority is claimed in ALL areas, period. And if you stop thinking, your brain atrophies and your IQ drops alarmingly. Religion, to me, is a private matter, between each individual man and woman and whatever he/she conceives of as divine. It is when some individuals start to demand, on pain of death or damnation, that EVERYONE must follow their own particular brand of BS, that things tend to turn ugly. Truth be known, this world is already judged, as are they who commit to a life of evil. We are getting close to the end of this world with the advent thousand years of peace being ushered in, the evil ones being removed. Imagine a world without tyranny! Jesus told us to hold fast to that which we have, meaning our faith, no matter how much or how little, for He is able to increase it. Mystery numbers will mean nothing then as we watch the end come, as they are used in so many superstitious ways, mostly for evil communications. .

It's no good folks, there's absolutely no point in trying to argue with fanatic fundamentalists. Their philosophy, if you can call it a philosophy, is "The Bible says it, I believe it, so that settles it." There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY AROUND this kind of mindset. Dogmatic religion appeals to a certain type of personality that is, at base, desperately afraid of leaving questions unanswered, and terrified of being wrong. This fear is of course subconscious and thus never acknowledged; fanaticism is merely the outward mask worn by one who is suffering from deep-seated, mindless terror. They are constitutionally unable to understand how anyone can fail to prostrate themselves before their fearful invented God. One must be charitable.
