New $100 Bill has RFID in 'bell in the inkwell'

What happens if they won't take the defaced currency at the bank or in other transactions?

I was told by someone that is pretty smart that the money can be tracked somehow. He wanted all the old bills he could get his hands on.

Remember people were pulling out the plastic strip when they first came out years ago?

My new drivers license had one too, notice I said had!

If I find something has one, I destroy it.

That will never happen. They would constantly have to replace them..

Recent stories out said that many of the bills crinkled like an accordian over the strips missing the ink pattern in a swath of the bills.

The billion new notes were to be sorted and the misprints destroyed.

Another mint was to print replacements. This causing the release date to be pushed back.

Well, what if the story was floated because they need an excuse for "doubling" the printing.

Since they never withdraw the previous "attempts to thwart" counterfeiters with new bill designs, but merely add the new to the older currency in circulation.

I suspect that hyperinflationary amounts of bills are about to be dumped. Any word on when the $500 and $1000 bills are to go mainstream?

I remember that. Its conditioning. They get you used to having these type of things inside the bill. At first everyone was pulling the strip out but now it is just accepted.

Theres gotta be a way to kill the bug.

Magnet, hammer, hell, cut it out of the bill, just have a little hole in it, thats all.

That's some nice looking counterfeit money

No, the new $100 bill does not have a chip in the inkwell. But it does have a chip or magnetic strip hidden in part of the blue ribbon near the top and bottom of the blue ribbon. You can prove this very easily by stacking 20-30 new bills on top of each other. Near the top and bottom of the blue ribbon you will notice a distinct "bump" in the stack. There is obviously something that is there that is a little thicker than the ribbon or the bills. My hypothesis is that it is an RFID chip or more likely a magnetic strip. This chip/strip could be magnetically electronically encoded to invisibly "mark" the money for various purposes. Possibilities are as follows: 1) the serial numbers so that the bills could be electronically tracked at various location. 2) Invisible serial numbers so that counterfeit bills could be detected if the numbers did not match the codes in the Federal reserve computers. 3) Encode special codes for kidnapping and ransom situation so bills could be traced invisibly.

Not in the ink well but maybe in the security strip. On the front where it says July just to the right of his eye, possibly.

But even if so, wouldn't a magnet kill it? Microwave for sure!
