Im pretty sure that this object is a lot closer than we think because if you pay attention to the parallax, for both, the Norway and Aussie spirals you will notice a big difference in the parallax. (Parallax meaning: displacement or difference in the position of an object) Nearby objects have a larger parallax than more distant objects Objects that are near by have a larger parallax than the more distant objects have. So, if the object is farther, you wont see the position change as much as you would if the object is nearer to the observer. Regarding the Parallax, you will notice when watching the Norway and Aussie spiral videos that the Parallax is less during the Norway video, and more during the Australian video. The Norway spiral happend in 2009, the Aussie spiral happend in June of 2010. The parallax (position change) is a lot more during the newer spiral video, that being the Australian video. OK, one point at a time. If the Norway spiral was caused by an object far out in space, why wasn't it seen by people all over europe and russia at the same time? As far as I can tell, it was localized over norway. For example, if Jupiter is visible from norway on a given night, it also will be visible to all of europe on the same night. The spiral appears as long as the light is in the visible spectrum. Im pretty sure that this object is a lot closer than we think because if you pay attention to the parallax, for both, the Norway and Aussie spirals you will notice a big difference in the parallax. (Parallax meaning: displacement or difference in the position of an object) Nearby objects have a larger parallax than more distant objects Objects that are near by have a larger parallax than the more distant objects have. So, if the object is farther, you wont see the position change as much as you would if the object is nearer to the observer. Regarding the Parallax, you will notice when watching the Norway and Aussie spiral videos that the Parallax is less during the Norway video, and more during the Australian video. The Norway spiral happend in 2009, the Aussie spiral happend in June of 2010. The parallax (position change) is a lot more during the newer spiral video, that being the Australian video.
