oh ok, so you think because if something is from salon, it is invalid to you? and the point its making is about how the government has now defunded npr, which wasn't even getting as much money as this christian based school. and yes this private religious school received an enormous amount in pell grants, and now they just cut those too for all state schools as well.....

I can vouch for this. I live 25 miles from Liberty University. This story was on the front page of our newspaper. So THERE! The good old "conservatives" of Liberty have noooooo problem accepting all that federal money when it helps further their agenda.

Actually what that means is they're no longer purusing their "agenda".

Center for Creation Studies

Dr. David DeWitt of the Center for Creation Studies:The Center for Creation Studies is an interdisciplinary education and research institute committed to the study of the origin of the universe, the earth, life and the species. This study draws upon knowledge from religion, science, philosophy and history.

The primary educational activity of the Center is the presentation of CRST 290, History of Life. This course is required of all Liberty students and is designed to provide a thorough understanding of the creation-evolution controversy.

A more in-depth, discussion-based class, CRST 390, is also available for students with a science background or strong interest in the study of origins. CRST 390 is an in depth study of the biblical and scientific views of the origin of the universe, life and man. Evidence and arguments for creation and evolution will be discussed.

The Creation Studies minor

The minor in creation studies provides a flexible program with a broad training in scientific disciplines that relate to origins as well as the Bible. Students in science or non-science majors can benefit from the in depth study of creation and evolution.

The Creation Studies Minor is 20 hours and classes include CRST 290 and 390, as well as BIBL 410.

The student will be able to:

* Demonstrate a consistent, biblical worldview regarding origins
* Explain key scientific evidences and arguments used to support the theory of evolution as well as difficulties with the theory
* Provide scientific and biblical arguments in support of creation.

Creation display

The Creation Studies display includes a total of 33 skull casts, with five hand and feet skeletal casts and black models of hands and feet. The skulls casts are from male and female gorilla, chimpanzees and orangutans. There is also a coyote skull and hand cast and skull casts for scientific fossils such as Lucy, and the fossil hoax Piltdown Man. There is a human skull and hand cast as well. History place cards show some background information on creationism, one example being the comparison of Neanderthals to modern humans.

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Center for Creation Studies is to promote the development of a consistent biblical view of origins in our students. The Center seeks to equip students to defend their faith in the creation account in Genesis using science, reason, and the Scriptures.

I am not bashing the college because of that, I'm bashing it because they are teaching creationism as science and you can get a degree in it with government funding. The government should not be funding ANY institutions of religion. None.

They are cutting things that are miniscule in budget because they are spreading information, not because they are spending too much on public radio. Get it?
