******Riddle me THIS!!!! Explain this to me------
How can an earthquake happen in the viscous mantle?

The crust depth according to Wiki is a max of 70 km and the ocean has a max depth of 10 km- so if an earthquake is greater than the sum (80 km) the earthquake is in the mantle.
How can an earthquake happen in the viscous mantle?

Viscous mantles are sneaky and cannot be rusted.

Yes, OP obviously never noticed its shifty eyes.

Always watching, and shifting.

The hills have shifty eyes.
The wolves among you will devour the sheep.

Maybe the viscous mantle isn't so viscous at the quakes depth.

If you push on a waterbed the top shakes severely.

Or maybe, just maybe, wiki is wrong? Seems the tectonic plates have been moving a LOT here lately. Solar cycle etc...
Maybe the core of the earth is sloshing a bit more now?

There's always a reason, we just don't know it yet ;-)
I love physics. It bonds us eternally, it's what makes our computers work, it's what's in my morning cup of coffee, it's the thing that keeps the universe from vanishing due to lack of belief...

I have read on here that some think it is weapon-instigated. To break up gallstones/kidneystones they shoot waves into non-solid matter to break them up. Same thing here, no?

I don't believe the "earthquake wars" concept, btw
I'm learning towards the Ribbon messing things up
