Anonymous Coward User ID: 1534853 United States 11/05/2011 08:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Simple. Go back in time to the beginning. Way, way back. What was it that caused everything to appear? If something sparked all that we see. What was that spark? What created it? If you answer a super nova, what sparked that? If you say an atom or whatever you can dream up - what sparked that? If you keep following it back, what will you come to? Nothing? Now try to imagine nothing. Nada. Zip. Not air, not blackness, not whiteness, nothing. No atoms, no dust. Nothing. No thought, no consciousness. Very difficult to imagine for many, but not impossible. If you believe that NOTHING existed at some point in time—how did everything suddenly come into existence. If you argue that there was never a beginning, that creation is infinite—there's your God. Because in our experience, infinite doesn't exist. Everything has a beginning and an end. Infinite is beyond your experience and could be called "God" - god is just a word, a concept for a creator. It is a mystery. Atheism is as much a religion as anything else because it's a belief in an idea that cannot be proven one way or the other. |

What do you think you might get out of being a theist? Is there some advantage that you seek from it; and is that why you are asking people to change your mind? These are honest questions, no mockery or snideness. No more requests in the "Strangest things" thread please. :hf: Past Lives requests thread: Thread: That Which Once Was: Past Lives |
